I recently noticed this lump in my ear lobe, it is fairly sore... I think it could be something, but I am also unsure. I want to get it checked out, but I am afraid that if I do I will need to have surgery, or even worse some form of chemo... I don't want to have to deal with this, especially when I am terribly phobic of anything medical...

Well surgery and chemotherapy suck. But if you wait until cancer starts to kill you, not only will someone notice and probably get you to the doctor so you have to endure that stuff anyway, By that time it will be too late.

Get it checked. It could just be nothing you know.

It's better to get these sorts of things checked out as soon as you notice them instead of waiting.

I suppose you could get cancer in your earlobe, but it's more likely it's a hematoma (sp?), even a zit (I used to get them there). It's such a small bit of flesh that they could do whatever surgery (if any), in the doctor's office.

Still, it never hurts to check.

Probably right, that's what my dad said too. I will give it a week, and if nothing changes, I will see a doctor about it... Only reason I am at all concerned is one of the many things that are wrong with me is a blood condition that makes cancer much more likely, and I risk developing the inability to produce red blood cells, although for someone as normal as I am with that condition, I won't like;y ever stop producing red blood cells.

zits are like a billion times more prevelent than cancers. Your odds are pretty good.
