...and in the state of NJ, car insurance pretty much reams you if you're 18-25, regardless of fault (which was not with me in this case...)

fortunately, nobody was hurt, and my car is still driveable (although there's a couple hundred dollars damage to it...)

It was corner to corner collision... I don't think one of us ran into the other, but the cops said I wasn't at fault for the accident... however, insurance in NJ doesn't care whose fault it is, everyone's rates go up if they're involved...

As long as laziness exists, we're not giving up the right to sit in our cars while other people pump our gas. At least we're creating jobs! :P

Thank god it's only a couple hundred dollars instead of several thousand. I was in a car wreck in November of 2007 and it was several thousand dollar damage even though I could still drive my car but had to get in though the passenger side because I couldn't get my driver's door open all the way because the fender got bent in. I have to pay a little more money like 20 bucks more on my insurence.

That's kind of silly. Jersey just doesn't seem to be the state I would want to live in. That also adds to the reason why I stay away from Jersey. Well at least you weren't hurt. Your pocket is going to be hurting more though

True, and that must be an easy job.

I had one yesterday, I dont thinl i'm at fault gotta see what the his and mine insurance sort out. going to cost 300 if it's my fault or free if it's his,

he tried to side swipe me, then Pit me. then when i got control of the car he was riding my ass, i tried to slow down and the guy slammed me, dsome how my brakes managed to slow both cars down, i just locked them on and let the abs work

i was in a vw and he was in a jeep, crazy times..

either way my rates will go up, it's a jip, am suing his s**t for whip lash and emotional distress, so that will pay my insurance

Where do you live? if it's not a no-fault state, you could easily get away with him paying all the damages for aggressive driving (not ot mention a criminal charge)...

You don't understand how it works in NJ... I could be tboned by an 80 year old and still get a couple hundred more a year on my insurance... NJ insurance is very prejudiced against the male 18-25 population...

it's that way nationwide - actuarial tables show that 18-25 males are the most accident prone. It gets better after 25, trust me...;)

a couple hundred for the bumper ain't bad. It's ironic, but the one piece of the car that's designed to be crashed is also one of the most expensive to replace (been der, done dat)

I think its going to be bumper, fender, and the right turn signal... I'll have to see how much this pans out to be... the car is old as balls, though, so that should help price-wise...

I Live in the UK so driving laws are the same all over, from what i gather if you hit some1 in the back, regardless of what the person did it's your fault because you should have been keeping distance, I'm going to the police tomorrow to report him for dangerous driving, only worry is if he says some s**t like i stopped in front of him, like to make him hit me, but i dont think he can really, and he would still be liable coz he hit me,

Also going to say how scared i was because it was awful!. I just hope he does not drag his feet accepting the blame because i want to get my car repaired, I can get it fixed and then go after him for the money, but i'd rather just wait and get him to pay, total nut job of a guy tho

update: not my fault, insurance rate won't be going up... I don't know how that works since NJ is technically a no-fault state, but that's what the guy on the phone said...

that's good new for you x

update:
Insurance called - guy hasn't even reported to his insurance.

Lawyer called - Told to expect guy to deny all

Police called - No they didnt call me, but were ment to call me to say the dude was arrested (I gave them a statement right away, he didnt)

Joke of it all, he has insurance, just admit it, pay up and move on!

yeah fender benders suck I have had two minor ones they are very common in new drivers (I am only six months licenced) there were contributing factors for both. I know a lot of others who have had similar issues and if no one is hurt then thats the main thing but the cost does suck for sure.
