My teeth aren't that yellow, but they're fairly yellow. I just tried a whole pack of Listerine whitening strips and I didn't notice any improvement. I want to get my teeth white enough that they'll look good.

How can I do this reliably? Whitening trays? In-home kits? Or will I have to get professional dental work?

I just painted my bathroom a nice, slick Gallery White. If only I could do that to my teeth.

i was told as a kid that there are basically two types of teeth - yellowish (which are stronger) enamel, and very white (which tend towards chalkiness) enamel. don't know how true it is, but in my family some of us had one, some the other. the uber-white teethed people had tons of decay problems that the yellows didn't.

which eventually comes down to the fact that you may not be able to change the color of your enamel much. it's my understanding that trying to do so with anything harsh would actually weaken the integrity of the enamel and leave the teeth more vulnerable to decay. having them professionally cleaned a few times a year might be the best choice, and knowing that they are clean not worrying about their particular tint...?

Baker soda works! Do it at least 5 days a week with toothpaste and after that listerin... this might help but it's slow.

you can also buy colgate withening treatment wich is basicly calcium acid this shows results after a week every day 20min treatment.

Or you could go to the odontologist and have a laser whitening, in colombia one of this can cost you $100 taxes included (even cheaper) and you get good quality. I suppose in the states it's a little bit more expensive.

I heard that laserwork can leave your teeth highly sensitive.

It's hard to believe that baking soda or peroxide could do the job I wanted after the failure of whitening strips. Has anyone heard any success stories about whitening trays?

baking soda is in some whitening toothpastes,so it must work, but would think it depends on how bad the staining is.
Am have severe dental fluorosis due to a tooth paste eating habit from young, which kills the enamel, one thing that has helped is painting them [not like KenM said, but the dentist does it with their special paint],and crowning.
