I seem to remember reading something (non ND related) about people having 3 internal rhythms (circadian, hormonal,?) & although two were 24h the other one was 25hr. Ive often felt like i had a 25hr cycle taking over.

I'm strange with the whole sleeping thing, :?
I get 12 hours sleep every time i sleep!
I'm constantly fighting to be awake during the day and often simply am unable to do so.
The is only one day every fortnight that I'm definitely awake all day and that is when i have work!
Any other day of the fortnight I'm mostly up all night 6pm to 6am and fighting not to be.

Ive been normal for a while, like i said before but a few weeks ago i was sleeping on alternate nights only.

The problem is i never seem to keep sensible hours long enough to fully recover.

Yeah that is similar to what i deal with,
I have some advice to offer though,
This did not actually work for me but it did work for another aspie i knew a couple of years ago...
Do you smoke? if so don't have one for an hour before you want to sleep,
but the thing that worked the best for him was anti depressants, there was a mention of a link between this problem and depression,
It worked for a week for me taking anti depressants had me sleeping normally but i had severe side effects to the medication.
And after all of the differing diagnosies i went through when i was younger (add, adhd, bipolar etc..) with diferent medication and side effects from each i have refused all kinds of medication except for asprin since..

I consider myself semi-nocternal.

Most of the time, I will sleep until 4pm-5pm and stay awake until about 6am-7am the next day. On the odd occassion I will sleep at night though, only if I have something important to do the next day.

Sometimes, I will just stay up all night and not go to bed until the next night if I have something to do the next day.

I've always been a creature of Darkness (I was born at sunset). Some of my Dad's and my most interesting power struggles were over this issue ( He was determined to "make me normal" if it killed him,me or both. Quack if that sounds familiar...)Every weekend, I would read all night and attempt to sleep all day. He and his minion, my mother, would come in and pour ice water on me, take the sheets off the bed, even the mattress. One day, I decided the game had lost its savor and said, lying facedown on the wooden floor," We can do this all day, if you want to, but you can't force me to stand up." "You know :she's right!" And out they trouped, never to battle on that front again. Aspie obstinancy triumphant!! Now, I work nightshift and sleep all day for 30 years and all the normal (sic) people I know do,too.:D

My mom gets really upset when I sleep in, especially in the summer. And, you know, summer is the best time to sleep in, when the days are too warm for me and I have no obligations. But she always tries to wake me up. I get called lazy all the time. I don't sleep significantly more than anybody else, just at different times. So I don't see how this makes me lazy. I think it's just that she she has a puritan streak and can't stand to see someone not actively engaged in some kind of work. I get yelled at all the time, so I just hide in my room.

Yeah. My problem is I'll be up until 4AM or so and then my kids get up around 9AM. I don't get to live on the wrong hours, I just end up constantly sleep deprived. But yes, my whole life my clock has been screwed up. It takes great effort and commitment to sleep "normally".

Yeah, I read that they did studies allowing people to sleep as long as they wanted, with no real light or anything to tell them what time it was, and over a number of days they naturally fell into a routine of 25-hour days. (I wish I could remember where I read these things...LOL.)

Anyway, I'm living in the wrong hours right now. It's almost 3 AM and I have class in the morning. :x

That's total bullsh*t. I can't stand people like that. That's just abusive and controlling. There is no good reason for her to do that to you. She's just abusing her position as parent in order to control you, and I think that's wong (I don't go to the parent's discussion area anymore, I'll say something I'll regret).

These are the same people that give you crap for liking anything, even when they don't have to participate, like when people here get on threads and start bloviating about whether or not the thread is merited. If you don't like something, piss off and don't participate!

How can she get mad? Oh no, you're lying there, making no noise, making zero demands on anyone, making no trouble whatsoever. You are literally getting in trouble for nothing!
