What about losing your hair guys?

My hairline isnt what itwas when I was 21 but I hope to go grey not bald.

Do you stress over hairloss?

It seems to me this might be a little different. I actually want to stay the SAME as I already was.

What do you think?

In my experience, trophy wives are the most likely recipients for invasive plastic surgery. These are women who married into wealth on the merit of their looks alone, so it folows that they'd be willing to spend money they don't have to earn, to maintain their sole drawing point. Actors and actresses who go for plastic surgery are certainly not positive forces in society; but it's not as if anyone with a shred of common sense pays attention to hollywood values anyways. It's really only when insecure people get plastic surgery, as opposed to shallow people, that something's gone wrong. The trophy wives and hollywood types are already a lost cause, they don't deserve any sympathy for the pain and expense they unnecessarily go through. Every time I see an article about a teenage girl with low self esteem getting lipo for her birthday to look like the latest teen starlet, I die a little inside.

The ironic part is, that most folks look better without the surgery. Most any guy with a pulse agrees, a voluptuous earth goddess, imperfections and all, is alot more alluring than the mass-produced gaunt lollipop facade. Shooting botulism into your face to paralyze the muscles, is not attractive either.

I want to know what happen to people being unique in their own God given way. Society has become so shallow that people will nick pick someone to death for how they look.

People want to see perfection… Less than perfect will not suffice in the near future. The next thing you know we'll end up seeing plastic surgery outlets in Super Wal-Marts.

When I saw this thread, I thought of Mr. Garrison's sex change on South Park.

Lumina I dont doubt that. Be careful . People like us created all the science that society takes and perverts. Don't give them any ideas.
Imean really. We're supposed to read the old Sci FI masters like Asimov, Bradbury and Orwell as warnings not insruction guides.
Gene Roddenbury showed us communicators and Blue Tooths , but he didnt show us piloting a shuttlecraft not paying attention because we were yakking on the phone.
As it is I can get a haircut, money from the bank, glasses and contacts, fresh gormet coffee, and medication at WalMart. Yeah I see the plastic surgeons coming.

What gets me is I LOVE "crows feet" it shows that someone smiles a lot. And Numbing your face so you cant smile? Smiling is the most attractive thing anybody can do!

ANd what about tanning? A suntan ( boothtan)is a mild level of a burn! We all know this, and we know that it'll mess up our skin. I don't like suntans either, boothtans especially.

And I still don't see it as being any different from the other end of the superfical spectrum. Time and money spent tattoing and piercing, cutting, branding etc. Its all just as supeficial. Its just surface. The time would be better spent learning an artform or reading or exercising.

The Barbies and the Goths . I see more similarties than differences.

Shave, Bathe, put on some clean clothes and go out and smile! Thats all I need to see. ( oh and eat your veggies and read every day)

And what of all this thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic dentistry?

Sidenote here: I've had cosmetic denistry because I pulvarized (my dentist's words) my tooth at 19. I will only go to a dentist who can do it because when the tooth wears done and needs to be refixed, I want it to look real. The same thing can go for some cos surgeries too. It is needed for those who were burned, attacked by dogs, etc.

Agreed. Personally, I have pretty bad acid reflux; the enamel on some of my teeth is completely gone, and it's eroding on the rest. I've had work done on... eight teeth, I think, in the past month and a half, and I've got more to do. It's kind of a never ending cycle; if it looks like it's about done, I'll chip my teeth on something, because they break so easily. The last two that chipped were the very front upper teeth; I kind of want the corrections to look natural.

I thought of that one chick who is obsessed with looking like Barbie. I'm surprised I didn't think of Mr. Garrison next.

As for my opinion on the topic at hand: Eh, it's their prerogative.

In a general sense, I believe that people should be free to do whatever they want as long as it does not harm anyone directly. This includes any type of body modification, for any purpose, whether it's shaving, tattooing, or lyposuction.

However, on a societal level, I am concerned about the trend of increasing amounts of plastic surgery. Are people overlooking the fact that all surgery is dangerous and painful?

While this may seem to contradict what I just said, I do see a clear difference between surgery and body modifications that can be done by people outside the medical profession, without drugs (as in shaving or tattooing). Anaesthesia and internal injuries create huge risks.

I agree with several of the above posters that natural bodies are beautiful. I enjoy the diversity among people's appearances.

I agree, I think people should stop forcing their own beliefs on people
I see what they mean, but unless they're personally pressured by these people who have gotten the surgery-they have no right to tell someone how to spend their money
