Mine would be between "Pumpkin Bisque" and "Cherokee Joe's Cornbread Soup", which I'm trying right now for the first time.

My grandmother used to make "salmon soup".

I remember going there with my dad one day...I was in my teens at the time...I love soup, she asked me if I wanted a bowl of soup, not saying what was in it...my father is standing in back of her waving his hands and making faces, but I figured he was joking.

He wasn't. :eew: :eew:

The stuff was orange, greasy...nastiest thing I've ever had or seen. Thankfully he saved me by saying we had to leave before I had to choke down the second mouthful.

We had a code after that...everytime she asked me if I wanted something I looked at my dad first.

My grandmother could be a really good cook...or a really bad one...there was no happy medium.

'cockaleekie' - I'm not even sure what's in it, let alone how it's spelled!

I've had turtle soup--there aren't really any turtles in it, and it's quite tasty.

Real turtle soup has turtles in it. You were cheated. Or spared, depending on how you look at it.

I can't think of any weird soup title I've had.

Fish head soup. I usually like fish, but that was nasty.

Definitely She-Crab soup....which contains Roe...so they take the mamma crab and all her potential babies and mash them all into the soup. Around here it is available in most regualr grocery stores.
I did not eat an entire bowl of the stuff- mind you...An ex-boyfriend in his studies to be a pirate, refused to eat anything but she-crab soup for a few days...I found it more-or-less disgusting...but took a few tastes.

One time i had road-kill rooster soup. Some friends were driving down the road and hit a rooster, and rather than let it's body languish and rot on the side of the road, they took it with them and made a delicious stew out of it. It was really amazing. I was not around when the rooster was killed.

(Please tell me to go away..I am not supposed to be on the board)

When I was living in Guatemala, I was once served chicken foot soup. Yes, there are real chicken feet in it. It pretty much tastes like foot, too. My host was sensitive enough to cultural differences, that she did not put any of the feet in my serving, just the broth, vegetables, and rice. It was very hard to get it all down while smiling and acting like it tasted good. But I did it. Everybody else clearly enjoyed it.

I cannot eat soup. I feel like it's tea with flesh/vegetables in it. I like my tea plain, thank you. :(

Potato cheddar bacon soup sounds regular enough, right? Not quite, this soup was thicker than tar, remarkably chewy and greasy. It tasted like a giant bowl of puree'ed bacon, and it distinctly reminded me of "Meat Juice" from the Ren & Stimpy episode where they adopt a criminal.
