Let's list our favorite animals! Here's my top 10:
10: Lions--how can anyone not like them! Besides, I'm a Narnia fan, so I have to like them.
9: Orangutans--their intelligence level is similar to humans, and they're not that different either.
8: Wolves--without wolves, we wouldn't have dogs.
7: Chimpanzees--same reason as the orangutan
6: Dragonflies--the only insect I can stand, because they eat mosquitoes.
5: White Tigers--they're so rare, and I love those stripes.
4: Elephants--I grew up on Babar, what can I say?
3: Dogs--no particular breed here. I like dogs because they just seem like the perfect companion for humans. It's almost like God made them with humans in mind.
2: Dolphins--the jester of the ocean. They always look like they're having so much fun, especially with that comical smile.
1: Platypus--the strangest animal on earth. It's a mammal that lays eggs. It has a duck's bill, but it doesn't have any other bird traits. And strangest of all--it has venom in its toes! What was God thinking when He created this thing?

10: Emus (Because they are ret*d looking ostriches)
9: Odders (That YouTube video of two odders holding hands made me go awww...)
8: Pinguins (Because they are going to take over the world soon 8O )
7: Polar bears (Being the biggest land predator has got to earn you some respect)
6: Ravens (Smartest of all birds, and they have so much history)
5: Dolphins (Because they are so much smarter than any human)
4: Cats (Independent intelligent animals, plus purring is the most calming sound I have ever heard)
3: Snow Owls (They are so graceful and beautiful)
2: Tigers (Who ever made lions king of the beasts?)
1: Wolves (coolest animals on earth)

Strange how that worked out isn't it?

10. Meerkats-They're so cute
9. Otters-Cute and fun
8. Pumas-They look like big Abyssinians
7. Lynxes-Some of my favorite wild cats
6. Various bird species-They provide endless entertainment for my cats
5. Raccoons-I love their big tails, which remind of Maine Coon cat tails
4. Wolves
3. Dogs-especially dachshunds, beagles, Labs and mutts (I'm biased, because those are the breeds I've had)
2. Tigers, especially the white ones (They remind so much of Samantha and Prince), which leads me to...

1. CATS (especially tabbies and Siamese. I love striped kitties especially, which is why Lynx points are my favorite Siamese kitties.)

I'm more a plant person than an animal person, but I do love capybaras, they're like giant guinea pigs. I also like squirrels and spiders.

What, no octopi? Cthulhu wouldn't be pleased.

Do shoggoths count as animals, by the way?

Itchy,
Vampyroteuthis is very octopus-like.

You're right, Scratchy. Weird little critter, haven't seen him before.

Maybe, but I'm better. The Scratchy comeback doesn't refer to the Simpsons but to the Five-Minute Voyager spoof of "Q2".

1. Cockatiels because they are so intelligent and funny. I have two, Cleo and Witvogel (literally Whitebird. He is a lutino. She is a wild-colour with a recessive gene for pearled)

2. Endlers guppy (poecilia wingei). They are so fun to watch! I love the subtle shape of the females and like predicting the colours the males will turn out when they mature.

3. Falcons because they look so powerful and free

4. Horses because they calm me down.

5. Sheep because they smell and feel so nice.

6. Angelfish (pterophyllum scalare)

7. Cats.

8. Whales and dolphins because they glide so calm in all that big blue and look like they are flying.

9. Ants. They are intriguing.

10. Swordtails (xippopherus helleri). I like the common orange single sword variety but also the original greens and the recent hi-fin variety. I don't like the long finned ones at all as I find they can't cope with any current in the tank.

Do you keep fish, Asha? I have a thirty gallon tank, and used to have quite a large (and old) hypostomus plecostomus, which is also one of my favorite animals.

Yes! I keep fish! They are a hobby. I don't have a tank at the moment because we have just moved but I have had tanks all my life. The latest was an 80 litre tropical community. I had swordtails, neons, and cherry barbs (my tanks are always understocked because I almost luike the plants more than the fish) and also lots of endlers guppies. They are so cool! I was doing a study of their genetics but had to stop because of moving house.

When I get a tank here again I want altum angels, denisoni barbs, rainbow fish and endlers guppies of course. Although I can't really keep angels here because the water is too hard, at pH7,6. I'll have to filter across softwood or something.

I had plecs too (small ones) but when one died and I discovered it it was so hard and awful that I've been faintly disgusted of them ever since.

A genetic study? That is very interesting, can you tell me more? I am actually a college student studying biology.

My tank is utterly understocked at the moment (though I am usually pretty conservative anyway). I merely have a dojo and a clown-loach (the latter I've had for about six years, and he was mature when I bought him).
