My musical taste is towards many directions/genres-but so far as video game music that I listen to for itself (in absence of the games) for pleasure:
-Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64) soundtrack by Koji Kondo: "Temple of Time", "Inside the Deku Tree", "Zora's Domain", "Windmill Hut", and "Gerudo Valley" are my favorites.
-Thunder Strike (SegaSaturn) soundtrack by Martin Iveson, don't know titles of tracks but they're instrumental/electronic with cool beats.

Techno! 8O
and foreign music, especially Chinese traditional, Indian music, Hispanic rap, and Rai from Algeria. My favorite foreign instrument would be the Yangqin.

I listen to a little bit of absolutely everything. It can get boring for me to listen to only one type.. so I switch it up. I'd say it's mostly techno, electronica, industrial, and metal, and I especially love the music that mixes up any of those genres.

Try looking into something new! You might like it :)

I like the music being played in different logos from TV/Movie companies. My favorites are the Universal Pictures of 1990 when they celebrated their 75th anniversary and the Ruby Spears Enterprise logo from 1981. The synth in that logo is calming to me.

I only listen to Azerbaijani soap opera theme tunes. Everything else I turn off by rule of thumb.

I am not realy interested in a lot of music but I guess I like game music and stuff, one song I realy like is the song 'One winged Angel' from the movie Final Fantasy 7:Advant Children. That song is ausome, I used to always repeat the song from the game Super Mario brothers, it is a tune that keeps repeating itself.

syzygyish's post reminded me about this: Tuvan throat-singing is groovy, too. Saw Huun Huur Tu (sp?) perform concert at local venue when they toured USA a couple years back.

I enjoy listening to video game soundtracks ( e.g. Robin Beanland, and Koji Kondo's work, as Belfast also mentioned), and stuff that is more 'sound' than music - the NASA space sound series, soundscapes, the song of whales or birds, and some noise music.

Cinema Strange (just wonderful.. gothic circus cabaret)
Diamanda Galas
Death in June
Gregorian chants
