Just spreading the word. December 10th is National Day without a Gay. In theory, the G&L community is supposed to call in "gay" to work in an effort to show how dependent (or not) the country is on gays and lesbians, et al.

I would like to plead to all and not make this about "right" or "wrong" or "religion". I would like to know in earnest: What would happen to your daily routine if gays and lesbians were no part of it.

Go ahead, be honest- I can take it.

I'd be very sad.
I wouldn't have the great music of Alicia Svigals to listen to.
Plus many other things and people would be gone from my life.

Even for just today (the 10th) : my fiddle lesson has been postponed. I gladly accepted an alternate day, but now I'm not so sure that was the response he was hoping for.

Sounds like a bloody stupid idea to me. Sitting at home with my feet up would be okay, but I'd be short of music to listen to.

My home city, Manchester, England, probably has the second or third highest gay population in the country and would almost come to a standstill.

While on the one hand it's great to live in a city with such a liberal, laissez faire attitude, on the other, as a single woman, it's a pain in the arse that most attractive single men you meet are gay or heteroflexible.

ETA: Not that I have a problem with heteroflexible men... ;)

Pretty much the extent of the effect on me, too.

Well ... as of the time of this posting, DWAG has been a distinctly featureless non-event.

Everybody showed up to work ... all my clients and vendors were available ... the deli was as crowded as usual ... parking was a bit tight, just like always ... maybe the 11:00 news will stage an event to make it look like something was actually accomplished ... nah, maybe not.

I didn't go to school. My friend said that a few classes had 5 people in them.

You have class this late in the year?

Also the advertising was kinda crappy. I didn't find out about it yesterday. And there was freezing rain here today... not exactly volunteer weather. I did keep myself from contributing to society at large though, but I do that every year and call it "Winter Break".
