Anyone else here primarily use a bike to get around? I do...as a non-driver..
Of my small handful friends, at least 2 of them do as well...
My AS-very good friend can drive, but chooses not to own a car...is very awkward behind the wheel and easily gets impatient and does stuff like drive through red lights that he would have on his bike...etc...

if I didn't live in such a hilly area I'd use my bicycle as the primary means to get about, as I lack a car at the moment, although at one point I was thinking of fitting a low-power 4-stroke engine to it to give some assistance on uphills to maybe put it into some use, however that didn't happen due to losing job, and now I have a full driving license I would prefer a car over a bicycle

I use a car, but I do see a lot of people in my town using bikes as transportation.

They make bikes that are adult 3-wheelers, with a compartment for storing groceries, etc.

That's a cool one indeed (with gears and all)

Plus Yeah, my main means of transport is the bike. I have no drivers license but really hate driving in a car anyway. Occasionally I take the train when needed to go a bit further. Not really enjoyable but hey with a good book I'll manage.

I am using a bike as my main means of transportation and here in York PA we have a trail that
goes 21 miles from the center of York City all the way to the Maryland border and then another 20 miles
farther south to Cockeyesville, Maryland which is some 10 miles north of Baltimore.

I walk when I can...sometimes ride my bike.

I'd probably do it more often if I couldn't get rides all the time, and if everything wasn't so far away @_@

...and if I could ride my bike in the winter =/

I love love love bikes!! ! This is my baby:

Except I have much better wheels on mine.

However. I would not want to commute on a bike or ride around town on a bike. Cold and rain are fine if I'm training for a race. But I would not put up with cold or rain or wind if I'm going grocery shopping or to a coffee shop or to work.

My ideal vehicle would be a small electric car. Something like a Mini or a Smart car, but fully electric.

My peddle bike got stolen by some local hoodlums. They also broke my car window one time.

Yes count me in as a biker too :)
I bike everywhere I can and want and around the whole year
Im very careful with my bike. Always keep it inside at night and double locked when leaving it outside

Its the absolute best way of transportation!

Independent and a healthy excercise just as easiest and fastest way to transport myself
I rarely use the tube and even more rarely buses
I dont like public transport as I dont like to travel with other people but I do it when needed to

Anna Banana: Your bike is cool, you are allowed to bring such on trains which you cant with regular bicycles

I'm also a biker. I ride everywhere. I also have a bike trailer that I use for hauling groceries and other large items.

San Antonio needs to build more bike lanes and not have most of them in the downtown area. I plan on getting a job near my house so I can ride my bike to work.

Portland has a VERY BIG bicycle community.

I want a bicycle, but can't find the right one and
cannot afford a bicycle. Bicycles are one of my obessions.

I use public transportation as
my main method to get around the city.
To get around my neighborhood, I walk.

On light-rail trains, there are only TWO places
on each individual car where a cyclist can hang the bicycle.
Isn't that BS? However, when the new light-rail line opens
in September, there will be four places to hang the bicycle.

The City of Portland, The City of Portland's Bureau
of Transportation, and Kaiser Permenente {hospital},
began a campaign to get citizens walking and biking to leave
to car at home.

My bike is my main mode of transportation also. I do drive and have a car, but I only use my car to go on trips or if I need to go somewhere when it is raining out, but so far this year I have put way more miles on my bike. Using a bike for transportation is the way to go, you notice so many things that you miss when you are driving somewhere, and cars rides are so boring. Sometimes when it is raining or to cold during the winter I take the bus, the bus ride always makes it a interesting trip, as you havent experienced the people in the area till you take the local city bus, and are packed close to a mass of random people of all kinds.

I have a green trek fat-tired..hybrid(?)...with a giant basket on the back. I'd go crazy without it.
