Al Gore's 58 room mansion burns lights 24/7 year round but he says he buys carbon footprint credits so he isn't actually damaging the planet at all (He earns 10 mil/year hectoring the poorer to do without instead of that) Anyway, he says that Chrysler's SRT-10 -Viper- is the dirtiest car in AMerica carbon wise.

It happens that I am in the process of trying to find a used SRT 10 and want to get some of these credits so that when I blow out the engine, burning carbon gushing out the rear, It does 250, I will have carbon credits and there won't be any smoke at all. Could I put a solar water system on my roof to heat the pool (don't have one but I can fake that part) and issue myself credits so not only would I not pollute but wouldn't cost me anything either?

Is this "carbon foot print credit" business a bunch of crap?

Eh, you're making more carbon dioxide for the plants, so they'll grow faster and larger.

Yes. While I don't believe in global warming personally, buying carbon credits makes as much sense as paying someone else not too eat so you can get fat. Just compensate in your own way, such as buying solar panels, or pushing your Viper to work so that you never have to fire up it's engine

In the US, if you're hooked into the electrical grid and you have some way of generating your own power, if you generate more power than you need, the electric companies are required by federal law to offer to buy your unused amperage. If you have photovoltaic solar panels or a wind or hydro turbine generator, while you're not at home and they're sitting there generating power that you're not using, your electric meter will spin backwards and the value of what power goes into the grid will be deducted from your electric bill until it breaks even, once it breaks even, they'll send you a check instead of a bill. With this, if you finance your solar panels or renewable-energy generator, aside from the money you save on your electric bill, the electric company will be paying for your generation system, in the long run, your $30,000 solar system won't cost you hardly anything. Once the system is paid off, elecricity won't cost you anything and you'll end up profiting from it. By using that profit to have a private well drilled and an electric pump installed, suddenly your water bill disappears and since your electricity is free, your water only costs you 40 bucks a year to replace the filters, and even that cost is covered by the electric company. If you get an electric car (or hydrogen car and an electrolyzer), suddenly you're driving on whatever energy you don't sell to the electric company.

Or you can give money to some random person so you can claim you're doing the right thing to help the environment by doing absolutely nothing but using your hard earned money to make someone else richer. I'll sell you all the credits you want.

Global warming is true, it's a proven fact. The problem with global warming isn't the warming itself, it's the way that environmentalists use it as a guilt trip. The planet has natural warming and cooling cycles, it's had ice ages and it's had hot ages (not mentioned as much as the ice ages). Currently, we're in a warming cycle, the planet is warming up just as it has hundreds of times over the past few billion years. Over 70% of greenhouse gasses come from volcanos anyway, so global warming would still happen even if humans never existed.

So global warming is something to believe in, but that doesn't make Al Gore or Greenpeace any more right. Speaking of Greenpeace, they use bio-diesel in their boat because it's a renewable energy source despite research that shows that it pollutes more than regular low-sulfur diesel. They're also banned from the coast of Japan since they accidentally rammed their boat into a corral reef they were there to "protect" from fishing boats less than a quarter of the size of their boat.

Global warming is a total scam, probably the biggest con job in history.

The world is actually COOLING and has been for the last 10 years.

Yes Al Gore owns the company that he pays "carbon credits" to. I have heard that he has made 100 million dollars from it already.

In New Zealand they are taxing farmers because their cows and sheep fart!

We are supposed to reduce our emissions by 60% or something.
But wait! The population is going up all the time.

Shock, horror! We all breathe out carbon dioxide. Are they going to tax us for breathing?
And even if they do how is that going to help?

Cooling? Never heard that one before, can you link to some info?

I think there was another time when the fad was global cooling too, either back in the 60's or 70's when there were a few cool years in a row. Then came some warmer years and the fad of global warming commenced.
