blue with a hazel backdrop.
in fluorescent light my eyes look blue, but with dim yellowish incandescent light, they look bluish hazel.

i can not see my eye color except in the mirror. i wonder if my eye color magically changed from what it is to dark chocolate brown while i was walking down the street, would i sense some change in my vision from the inside of my eyes?
i will never know answers to questions like that.

I see hazel eyes as light brown, which is different from dark brown or black.

Anyway it is not very important a matter, but hazel has nothing to do with green...to me

Does anyone agree?

Actually I have the answer , yes you would sense some change in your night vision from the inside of your eyes, fair eyes' pupil seems to dilate more.
During daytime it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Eye color is primarily determined by melanin within the iris stroma, the colored part of your eye, called the iris, is what controls the amount of light that is allowed to enter the eye. When your eyes dilate, the iris retracts and the central opening, or pupil, enlarges, letting more light in.

If you have green eyes, you are a rare breed. Statistically, green eyes are found in only 1 to 2 percent of all people. Brown eyes are by far the most common eye color. More than 50% of the population shares that trait. Brown is followed by hazel–a blend of brown and green or amber. Blue eyes are significantly less common than either brown or hazel, yet it is predominant in certain geographic areas.

Both my ex-boyfriends had green eyes. I have a weakness for green eyes.

The genetics of eye color are complicated and eye color is determined by multiple genes. Some of the eye color genes include EYCL1 (a green/blue eye color gene located on chromosome 19), EYCL2 (a brown eye color gene) and EYCL3 (a brown/blue eye color gene located on chromosome 15). The once-held view that blue eye color is a simple recessive trait has been shown to be wrong. The genetics of eye color are so complex that almost any parent-child combination of eye colors can occur

One study has given a hypothesis that blue eyed men prefer blue eyed women due to the trait's recessive inheritance. Under this theory, because blue eyed couples are likely to produce blue eyed offspring, males are more confident in the child's paternity. :D

So blue eye phenotype can be originated from 2 genes located either on Chr 19 or Chr15

The green eye phenotype can only come from the gene EYCL1 on Chr19

that is the reason why the green eye color is so uncommon among humans especially with a recessive inheritance

Blue, as are all those of my 3 siblings and my father. My mother, however, possess one green eye and one hazel eye.
