The few smartypants are getting smarter. The rest are about as dumb as they've been in at least the antiquity (Rome, Greece).

In the past the gifted people may have invented a better horse drawn carriage or a better sword. Then industrial machinery and longer burning light bulbs and trains and telegraph. Average person could at least understand their work.

Today we are working on nanotech, and computer chips with pathways so small they are approaching the physical limits, and space flight, and the origin of the Universe, and are generating particles that the UNIVERSE did not see since the Big Bang, and the list is pretty much endless.

Humans aren't getting dumber on average. Instead the gap between the top and the bottom is growing wider.

The top 1% has been pulling the rest of humanity ever upwards, while the remaining 99% get home from their lame job, open a can of beer, prop their feet up on the table, tune in to a football game, ignore the spouse and 10 kids, and drink themselves to stupor. They repeat the process the next day.

People are getting Dumber.
A mate just e-mailed me an article from Arizona USA. It said that sate will have to dumb down their 'High School' essay test because so many USA children are dumber than your average brick when it comes to writing English.
Very sad indeed.

Ulterior motives of the human race,

are frequently self-defining,

even self-defiling.

regardless...

selfish.

It's the proud sort that annoy me to no end. "Huh.. I just set my head on fire! Cool!" "YEah cool man! My term! 'flic' Whoooo..." :x hrmf!

It's the level of English used in articles these days. People don't proof read anymore and homonyms are used frequently. Grammar is often terrible. I read movie reviews and it's painful to read what people write ! !!

I hope that that video about the sprinkler conspiracy is a put on!
Next were gonna see a video about that mysterious bright shinning UFO that
rises above the Eastern Horizon every mourning, and sets on the western horizon.

I guess the public IS getting dumber!

Media doesn't define average intelligence, it has merely become more accessible. Social classes have been eroded a little, and the current media is just in a growing phase.

For the most part massive cuts in education spending, combined with trying to "focus" what little education was left into more basic subjects leaves the west at an overall loss, especially the US, which currently has one of the worst school systems in the developed world.

This means business sectors make a nice amount of money from stupid consumers, and whoever leads can easily control a public too stupid to think, let alone argue otherwise, although whether that's intentional or not I'll leave you to fathom.

I bloody well think NOT ! !! The level of debate on these boards has sunk to new lows. I post something and people post back l;ike they are some expert, but actually have no real knowledge of what they're bloody talking ABOUT ! !!

"Well, to me such and such means this and that in spite of the fact that it doesn't mean this and that to everyone else..."

research has shown that humans are getting ever so slightly smarter with each generation. the theory that humans are getting dumber has been debunked so many times its unbelievable. do you and you alone have some kind of new evidence to support your view?
