For the last few xmas's the main event has been marzipan, marzipan, and more marzipan, plus a few mussels, prawns, chocolates, and duck.

But this xmas I won't be eating marzipan, because I have given up sugar. Will have to concentrate on the seafood this time! :)

I never understood why people eat Turkey on Christmas, if they just ate it almost exactly a month ago on Thanksgiving. Repetitive, much? We've always either eaten a Ham or rack of lamb on Christmas. Oh, and my mom makes this really really good homemade coffee cake on Christmas, too! On Christmas eve, we usually eat seafood.

Not to mention all of the candies and chocolates around Christmas time!

I think it's mostly the non-Americans who eat Turkey on Christmas. CockneyRebel, I assume, does not eat turkey for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

As far as I understand, ham is more traditional for Christmas in the U.S.

In my family we never bothered with any fancy food on Christmas. Who wants to be stuck in the kitchen cooking a meal and cleaning up after it? Especially since Christmas is all about chocolate and cookies. :wink:

We're not big traditionalists, so we usually go out to eat sushi or Chinese food.

As Christmas dinner, in my family we mostly have roast duck, and then ris a la mande, that is cold rice porridge mixed with whipped cream, vanilla and chopped almonds, and then hot cherry sauce to that. :D
There's a whole almond hidden in it, and the one who finds it gets a present.

That food looked so good, I haven't had a real christmas dinner in 3 years, we use to have toutier which is pork pie and and all sorts of rich treats on christmas eve, then the following day we would have a huge breakfast then for our dinner we would have a big turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes which I had to eat with cranberrys, then we would have a plum pudding which I found real odd because there wasn't any plums in it, but I love it just the same because I got to light it on fire.

Oh god. I don't even know what that is but it's making me drool. XD;;

My mom always makes pie.. she's great at apple and pumpkin. And we usually get this big pretzel-shaped kringle thinger from the plant shop, which is kind of random but really delicious. (I don't even really know what a kringle is, but that's what it's called.) Also, lots of turkey sandwiches, because she's still got turkey left over from Thanksgiving. XD;;; Or else she got it on sale afterward. I have no idea really.
