I'm not that fond of Facebook but, Myspace is no greater either..I guess all social-networking sites have their strongpoints and weakness. These days, I'm not part of any networking forum for, I'm trying to reduce the likelihood of another identity theft scenario seen from years ago..

Made a sudden return on MySpace after half a year not going on it  reasons I went back on it? Because I wanted to find my old friends and keep in touch with them..... :) but then facebook, its like all of a sudden the earth would probably rename itself to planet facebook

For a while I was never bothered by Facebook, I didn't even bother to make an account.... until August. And now for some reason it's like I'm addicted to it. :)

I kinda like Facebook, I get some replies on my status updates, and it has helped me keep in touch with family and some of my friends.

I have some of my best friends on it as well, that helps

The games sometimes drive me into brief obsessions, annoying but ok. (I've become better at quiting)

I never have had a facebook page and I never will. My husband goes on that site and I find the applications to be incredibly boring and stupid. All of the back and forth nonstop chatter of those people in short comments.. it is like glorified smalltalk in a box that I want no part of. Further, people use it as a way to keep in touch with people they used to see often. I do not want to keep in contact with people I never see anymore. I have a hard enough time keeping up with people I see on a monthly basis, why would I stress myself out over people I have not seen in ten years... what are the chances I would even know or care who they were in the first place? It sounds like a nightmare to me. But I am not really a social person and when I am I am slow paced about it. The fact that people can im you from there is enough to keep me away. It is too interactive like that for me.

Completely agree with you, I feel the same way.

At my school, teachers aren't allowed to add students on Facebook. Maybe your college has a similar rule?

I don't like Facebook. It annoys me how stupidly obsessed the world is with it. And I saw a video on YouTube saying that Facebook sells your details to other companies and also they search the net for all other information about you, it's really scary, so I would never register for Facebook even out of social necessity.

I did and liked it at first and then I deactivated it. It is too 'square' for me...I know that sounds stupid but it is. I like myspace but I don't have one right now. I will have one again eventually. I love myspace because of the music, bands market themselves on there and if you are willing to put in the time you can find great bands from all over the world. I knew something was amiss that facebook was no music. I really can't stand corporatism and marketeering and it seemed to me that's what facebook is about...they want all your info, please, and then they do whatever is good for *them* with their site with no regard for what the people who frequent it want. It's ridiculous. I think it's just the inevitable coming true of Andy Warhol's statement about in the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes. Maybe not famous but you can market yourself. At least myspace is on the level, it's open about being sleazy in some ways. Facebook is sleazy, in a madison avenue sort of way, but it pretends to be the online social networking savior. Fake, fake, fake. I did connect with some old friends. I just don't want to use that facility to be connected with them. I am hoping someone will build a better mousetrap, i.e. make a site that is pro-user. Facebook to me, has an underlying adversarial relationship with their users. At first it was undetectable to me but as the changes became increasingly frequent I just couldn't stand it anymore.

i have my ups and downs with it. people don't respond a lot when i comment on their wall but my sister said that people who've had a facebook for a while may not get on as much or feel obligated to respond to every comment. it still annoys me at times though.

i made a thread about my new facebook somewhere around here. i really try to respond people all the time.
Pm me - we can be facebook pals.

That is me, too. I sometimes write the same things that others and someone else will get a lot of responses and I will get none.
It seems like people comment more if you say something basic like "Mmmm making some cookies..." then that person gets a lot of "Like". I don't post that way.Really the people who seem to respond are people I hardly even on forums.

I have many "friends" on it just because most are forum friends LOL (272 friends) Most are from two other forums. My husband asked, "Do you even know 1/4th of those people in person?" I really don't. I guess I just became a happy "friend accept" clicker when people posted facebook threads (ADHD happy clicker person).

LOOK AT THIS. This is the best ever.

Do you see narcissism?? That pretty much sums up facebook! Completely.

ADHD and Twitter LOL. I have never done twitter for that reason. I am already ADHD, I don't something else to distract me. Life is hard enough. I don't even get the whole tweet thing and I don't even want to learn.

Alana, I like facebook because it is kind of boring and basic. The less complicated, the less stressful for me. I would stress out if I had to be creative on a page.

You are pretty funny! I can completely understand everything you are saying. That is how you will make your millions - build that better mousetrap. I really don't like the continued changes. It bugs me.

I can't stand receiving all of those stupid notification of farmville and the other stuff, "someone recieved a cow from someone else." Oh, "Someone started a snowball fight with you or gave you a virtual hug. What the heck? I know there is a way to just turn it off. I need to do that.

I've had so many people tell me 'oh, you have to be on facebook.'
When I went to look I saw that you have to sign up just to look at it, so I decided right then it's complete rubbish.
If any of my old friends want to find me, my phone number is floating out there in cyberspace. It's a bunch of preening self absorbed nitwits.

Today I HATE facebook more than anything!! !

And all of it because of my cousin. Because he have links on his page to discusting stuff from my past, my old area where I grew up and my nightmare school. And he is a FAN of the s**t!
I knew I would feel bad entering those groups of his but yesterday I did anyway and browsed around yucky people from the worst period of my life. I found the guy who bullied me the worst in school. He is not a friend of my cousin thankfully but he is on f***ing Facebook. I saw a photo of him how he looks like today. He is fat and he have a wide smile.... imagine that I can actually contact him and spit out the words: Do you have any idea what you did to me?

I had felt completely awful this day. To think of those people, to think of that area and to think of seeing that guy. To know it all still excist is most difficult because ever since I left that area in 1992 to never return I have fighted to erase that part of my life :(

I honestly cant understand that people can really like to track down old people from the past like this. For me it was just devastating to get reminded like this at all. I so much regret that I did enter this. I have been depressed all day long and cried now when my husband came home and I want to delete my cousin from my contact list....
If it wasnt for Facebook, then I didnt even had the option to confront my past like this again....

My husband told me to go to YouTube to cheer myself up, I guess thats a good idea to try...

Not allowed to go on. If I did, it would be more for the games and to contact my sisters and a few friends.
