We have a Miniature Fox Terrier breeder's cast off. His name is Snuggles (always let your 4 year old name you pets!). With hunting dogs, often it's the runt that is discarded, but this little guy has the opposite problem. The reason he's not a desirable specimen is that he's too husky and doesn't have the properly deformed super short legs. He's actually quite a strong 23Lb bundle of over wound spring loaded muscle. Pound for pound I've never seen a stronger dog or known a more faithful and loving friend.
Snuggles is really my first small dog. I've always had Shepherds, Huskies or Labs, before and they were fairly smart. But this little guy is brilliant, well behaved, responsive, energetic and takes commands flawlessly. He is almost 2 years old and he's actually learned very good manners, already. I'd have to say he's the best dog I've ever had. It's hard to imagine, but the practice of euthanasia for convenience sake almost prevented me from meeting my best friend.
