No I don't see it as an issue at all. Pretty harmless thing to do... I'm a lurker myself, and I have a problem with being outed for being a lurker. Hm, maybe that means I do have a problem with it, because it makes me feel like a creep if other people know I'm lurking. I don't think other people are creeps for doing it though.

That you yourself have complained of people lurking in the past and ask this question now, I find somewhat ironic. Nothing major, just amusing.

Just to confirm...what exactly does lurkers mean? Does it mean people who just spies on what is posted but don't post themselves? How would you know who's lurking if they don't post or did I get the definition all wrong??

Yes.

Forums always say there are guests there browsing the place.

I don't see the problem then, its not like you can stop those lurkers in any way.

Just when have I complained?

I have no issues with lurkers nor have I complained. If you think I have, show me or tell me.

All you need do is look back over some of your other posts, and there have been a number of comments made by you regarding individuals lurking on various forums. There is no accusation, LG, and I'm not going to go searching for a link to the specific conversations that I am thinking of. Sorry if you've taken offense, but I'm not sure why you would.

Because I don't think I have ever complained about lurkers. You may have misunderstood me or you are mistaking and it was someone else who complained and you somehow thought it was me. I sometimes get people mixed up too when I remember things. So I am considering this is what may have happened for these two possible reasons.

*shrug* I appreciate the concern, but I'm pretty confident in my memory of the conversation I was shown. Thank you, though... and again, it's just my impression of things - still not sure why it is of such terrible import.

I never take accusations well and what conversation?

Great, now I have to worry about I have a stalker. I hope that's not the case. Maybe I'm being paranoid. :?

There's nothing wrong with lurking. Sometimes its good to get a feel for the forum before you join up.

I'm hesitant to say things even on an online forum, I must be an aspie among aspies.

LG, I said very explicitly that there was no accusation and that is was my own observation - how you choose to interpret it beyond that point is up to you. However, you bring up a good question - what's the difference between a lurker and a stalker? The only thing I can distill from their meanings would be the matter of intent, and that would be rather subjective in many cases. As I said before, between the loss of your previous account(s) here and real lack of personal priority on the matter, unless I come across the conversation or link relevant to the conversation that I would not be investing time into looking all the possible places and finding the conversation(s). Your responses, however, are rather confusing to me as there doesn't seem to be any real root issue other than my casual observations regarding the difference I've seen in your comments.

Well I am going to let this go. I already have enough going on in my life, I don't want to have another issue here.

I don't understand how my responses are confusing. I don't know what else to say so they aren't confusing so you understand.

After thinking about this, I know I have talked about lurkers and if you think I was complaining about them, I wasn't. I never said I had issues with them or thought it was a problem. I don't care if guests come and look at the forum or people not posting. So if that was the case, I feel better now.

I am not going to sit here and argue about how I wasn't complaining and trying to get you to change your thoughts. I've said my thing.

you seem to be pretty good at unintentionaly starting fights with people, I find THAT ironic. I understand it is probably unintentional, but I have just read three threads in a row were you have thown out bait and insulted people. I am only saying this because you say you are confused.
The thread was going well, then you said it was ironic, pretty much setting out the bait (even if it was unintentional). When LG took the bait you threw the puch to get things started when you said "That you yourself have complained...". Not sure if you realized that or not or if you wanted to get things started with LG, but saying something like that to anyone would almost always get something started, unless it is the type of person who will just ignore you.
The thread I read right before this, about pedestrians and trafic, you did something similar, kept it going till you got mad, and ended up throwing a bunch of insults against the person you didnt agree with.
You did something similar in my thread about the adverts, were I had to stop responding to you as to not escalate things, and start a fight with you.

I am not looking to start a fight with you or try to insult you or anything like that, and I have nothing against you, just trying to show were LG and some others might be mad at, how these situations formed, and to try to stop you and LG from draging out this back and forth for 6 pages
I really hope you dont get mad at me for saying all that

Back to the topic, I do much more lurking then posting, as I try to spend my time replying to threads that I feel I have something I can contribute to, or any time I can add something funny

I said I wasn't going to argue. I know he wasn't intentionally trying to get me started but I don't care what people think of me. All I care about is seeking the truth and once I know, I move on, even if that person still thinks the same of me after I have corrected that person. I have said my share and I don't want to waste my time trying to get someone to have the correct thinking about me. I have been there before and I decided to not care anymore because I don't want to fight it and trying to get the person to change their mind. Even if I can't seek the truth, I still try and move on and not worry about it because not everyone answers me but M did.
