Has anyone been there and seen the Asperger's article? I went there because i saw someone mention it somewhere. I know that site is meant to make fun of pretty much everything, but i have to say that most of it is just plain idiotic. There's even a forum about "assburgers" where they complain about self-diagnosed people and then a few of them who obviously either have it extremely mildly or were misdiagnosed talk about how they have it and it causes them no issues in life at all, so therefore people who do have issues are being ret*ds or using AS as a "crutch." I mean, seriously, after reading that site i think i might have found the mothership that all the trolls on the internet come from.

I really think they are trying to make fun of the NTs who pretend to be aspies just to be a douche, etc. It really isn't clear and frankly is in poor tastes, but I found it kinda' funny.

The other day I learned not to look at Encyclopedia Dramatica while at work :P

Grossness on my screen unintentionally appeared.

In every article there is at least one pornographic photo.

I was unaware of this site till today. I didn't think it funny, but guess all the articles are similarly puerile.

I would not pretend that I found it offensive, I simply don't care much what people think of me anymore.

Yup. It isn't, and they are.

I think they are making fun of people who use it as a crutch or an excuse. Same as people who self diagnose because they need an excuse.

Yeah, but if you look at peoples' forum posts there on the topic, they seem to think everyone who actually has issues because of it is using it as a "crutch." They even talk about how it isn't really a disability and stuff. I don't know how those people claiming to have it there ever got diagnosed in the first place if they aren't disabled by it to some significant degree, and there they are complaining about anyone with it who is. I wouldn't say i have a very severe case of AS at all, but it definitely effects most areas of my life to a significant degree.. And, yes, it is "disabling." I don't use it as an excuse to sit around doing nothing with my life, but it gives me a lot of limitations that can't just be "overcome" because i decide i want to "overcome" them. I think this is probably normal for your average person with AS. So hearing a few lucky people, who claim to have AS despite their awesome ability to adapt to everything in the world, decide that they can do something so everyone else should be able to is sickening.

Lot of aspies don't see it as a disability, there are topics and posts floating around here about it too. Or maybe they are in the minority.

I think it's pretty obvious that it's a disability, as it's most certainly disabling. I, personally, don't like the words "disorder" or "disease" used to refer to it. Or saying that someone "suffers from" it... Because that implies that there's something *wrong* with it. I don't see anything wrong about it, or as something that needs a "cure".. But i don't see how someone can argue that it isn't a disability. I mean, being disabled by it is part of the criteria, they just don't use that word. If the world were made up of aspies, maybe not.. but it isn't.

Like, say.. if someone is bad at math and has dyscalculia. They are obviously disabled when it comes to using math. Is it wrong? no. Does it need to be "cured"? no. That's just the way their brain works, and they might be super good at other skills and be able to think of other things in different ways. But they still have a learning disability when it comes to math. Aspies are like that, but with social skills, multitasking, etc.

I find the article funny, and I have AS. As Darty said, it's probably just my type of humor.

I thought it was pretty funny as a whole, but some of the kids tried too hard with the Asspee article (it feels improper calling it the Aspergers article).

Then again, I grew up on pretty sick and twisted humor stuff like John Waters films.

More notably, I think that,it's worth noting that a lot of people on the various boards have that general perception of AS. Even worse, some evoke Christian Weston Chandler as the stereotype.

ED is where I go when in need of a smile. The AS article delivers.
