If I am a fourteen year old, and my IQ is 113, what would my mental age be? I calculated it, and it was 8, but I'm not sure.

I have no idea, but 113 is above average so I would guess your mental age is older than your actual age.

Your mental age would be a little older than your real age.

I don't know that that is enough information to make a useful guess.

I suppose a rough way of thinking about IQ is it is how quickly you can understand ideas and make mental connections. You can have a high IQ and be very immature and you can have a low IQ and be quite mature.

Maturity has more to do with experience and how well you are able to apply that experience to events around you. Perhaps a higher IQ might help your maturity, but probably only if you have a high emotional intelligence.

So I'd have to guess that if you are 14 and your IQ is 113, your mental age might be... 14... that is to say I can't make any sort of reasonable guess based on the information.

I don't think IQ is necessarily an indicator of mental age. The only thing I can tell you is that 113 is above average.

Most IQ tests are calibrated to the age of the person taking it. The scale gets adjusted or special tests with slightly different tasks are used for different age groups. The main idea is that within each age group the average IQ is 100 by default. Thus I think that a calculation of a "mental age" is only neccessary if your results have not been adjusted to your age, KissOfMarmaladeSky. If the person doing the test with you has taken your age into account than your IQ is 113 and thus a bit above the average of your age group.

As far as I know the reason fur adjusting the results according to the age of the person taking it is that the human mind developes further as the person matures and works a bit differently plus everyone simply gains more experience which the brain can put to use when working on an IQ test. It would simply not be fair if children, adults and seniors were all expected to perform equally well in an IQ test without age-adjusted scales, because the have different potentials for handling that test.

Calculated, and it was 15.82 years.
Your IQ is higher that 80.7% of people your age; typical level of college graduates.

It is. That's the point of mental age.

I don't like being compared to an IQ. It almost like being compared to processor speed on a computer.

Humans aren't computers. D:
