Being told by someone to stick up for yourself and voice your opinion more, and then when you try, you get told by that person you're being a selfish jerk.

Being told by someone to find something you love to do, then being ridiculed by that person whenever you find something you're passionate about.

Being told to "pick yourself up by the bootstraps" and to take more care of yourself, but then being accused of being uncaring for others.

People making you feel obliged to hurry up on the self-service tills in Tesco, but when you do, you do something wrong.

This is my suggestion as well. If someone is totally emotionally committed to a certain viewpoint that underpins their entire existential orientation to the universe then no amount of rational debate will shift them.

People telling you to stand up for yourself, then when you do stand up for yourself one day, they bully you. (It's happen to me twice before).

You can't win The Game. I'm surprised no one's said it yet.

Also, you just lost it. XD

You can't win in trying to make your home team win by shouting at the TV set, if they're obviously losing.

People lecturing that you should always punch bullies, but if you do punch bullies you are told to grow up.

I totally agree with this one! I've found this a lot on WP. Personally, if somebody bumps an old topic dated way back in 2007 or something, it doesn't worry me one way or another. It's really not the end of the world.

Usually it's because the people responding on the thread or the original poster moved on from the forum long ago, so the raison d'être is no longer there.

Quote:
When people say that getting drunk at 16 is wrong because they're ''too young'' and shouldn't be doing it at all, but then when somebody in their mid-20s get drunk, people say, ''oh I expect that from a 16-year-old, but not from someone your age!''

A lot of people disapprove of alcohol full stop, never mind doing it to stupid/dangerous levels.

Do you own your house? If so, tell them to piss off.

You can't win when warranties do not cover water damage. It's an arm and a leg to repair water damage.
