Hyperlexian you sound more Scottish every time I hear you, and I know you don't really, but that's how it feels to me. Everything I know about the Canadian accent I learned from South Park.

WICKED! thank you. even if it was just an impression. in my imagination i am living in the Hebrides.

i tend to pick up accents from other people (which i actively suppress now), and even their cadence or pronunciation. when i lived on remote first nations (native reserve/reservation) for 4 years, city people used to laugh at me as i sounded indian. they have their own distinct accent in some cases.

I'll make my video of this when the house is no longer occupied by others. So far I don't think I've heard anyone pronounce "roof" like I do.

yeah, i did mine when there were people in the house and i had to awkwardly explain what i was doing. they looked at me like i was insane, pretty much.

I've done one. There were people in my house but I have my own LOCKED bedroom so they can't bother me. If they did I'd get them with my walking sticks!

I recorded one but... it's taking about 3 years to upload so if you lucky you might see it tomorrow!

If you call hours of practice on various tongue twisters for acting class a superpower, then sure. :P

Anyway, here is mine. I'm afraid you won't get to see my face, but you do get a lovely view of my neighbour doing washing type things, and a few random birds. Apologies for the grubby window.

I might sound a bit anti American, but I'm not, I'm just anti Americanisation of the UK.

Thanks! Am I the pink cat, and you the green doggy, or the other way around?

I liked the book Elidor as a kid too, I read a lot of Alan Garner, don't remember much of it though...

You sounded a bit harrassed in your video, were you in a hurry? I did mine in a bit of a rush.

Nice use of sweaaaring

Tis Roobarb and Custard Mr Moog, And you can choose which one you would prefer to be. (I recommend Roobarb, as Custard gets laughed at by birds more).

Elidor was particularly appealing, as I lived in Manchester at the time, and I too used to ride the lift in Lewis's.

I wasn't exactly harrassed, but possibly out of practice with the whole talking malarky, slightly worried, balancing on the end of my bed with a wobbly laptop, and fending off a particularly large black cat with ambitions of getting onto the window sill.

I don't swear that much in real life. Except bloody, I say bloody quite a bit.

Jellybean you also made me chortle, and you do have a Yorkshire accent most definitely.

You speak good English. In America and Canada, there is an accent called the Yooper/Great Lakes accent that sounds similar to the way you talk. This is because many of the immigrants who originally settled there were from Sweden, Finland, or Norway.
