I'm struggling to get to sleep tonight so I thought I might as well have a go at this, it seems quite interesting. Half of my face is darker than the other side because of the lighting, I don't have one dark eyebrow and one light one, same with my eyes, I'm not wearing eyeliner on one and not the other, I'm jus not wearing any.
Also I didn't even realise that I was rocking when I read from the book until I watched it back, I wonder if I do that all the time when I read?

cool accent!

i also rocked and spun a bit in my video. i do that when i get nervous.

not true. i really can't sit still lol

Thank you, my accent's a bit annoying. It's kind of a mix between a Surrey accent which is the county I was born in, Hampshire because that's where I am living now, a bit London because I have family from there and a little bit estuary English (Essex) just because that's how most people speak in Surrey and Hampshire for some weird reason. I just realised because you're Canadian you've probably only heard of London out of those places :)

I know, it's strangely hypnotic. You mentioned that you can control things with your mind. I'm having a hard time determining if that is true or not.

you have a great voice! very deep, like a radio voice. i think our accents are slightly similar, no?

it made me laugh SO HARD that you were holding a flammable substance while smoking, and even read out the caution on the back of the tube!! !

yeah!

I felt safe, it was pretty tightly closed. I just won't smoke while actually filling a seam.

I think this thread is great! I feel like I'm getting to know a lot of you and to actually hear your voices, pronouncing your usernames really help in feeling like you're a bunch of faceless, nameless users. It's easier to feel empathy and connections when you can hear their voice and see them talking.
:pr: :pl:
well done, shenlong! :thumleft:

No problem MJ. I made this thread for that precise reason. Once I know what people sound like, I read their posts in my mind with their voice and it makes them less like faceless robot people I chat with on the internet but more like people I'm talking to on the phone.

I definitely heard a little Northerner in your accent, particularly when you said 'again', but you don't seem to have a thick accent.

I was looking up the Nova Scotian dialect on youtube when I found this. I'm big into evolutionary linguistics and dialects.

@Scientistofsound as I metioned on MSN, you have only a slight accent and could probably easily impersonate and blend in with New Englanders here in America as they have the most British-like accents in the US. Which reminds me. We should do a thread on accent impersonation in the near future. I can pull off an amazing South Vietnamese accent and I have enough understanding of British terminology and phonetics to pull one of those off quite well. And my Australian and Mandarin accents aren't too bad. None of them are stereotypical.

Easy to believe is it?

Sadly, I've never managed telekinesis... yet.

okay this is going to sound weird, but i hear some northern european in your accent, like something scandinavian. i have no idea why you sound that way to me!

aside: am i the only one who has listened to every single recording?

EDIT: i could listen to some aspies ALL DAY. somehting about the cadence and subdued enthusiasm is unlike other videos you hear on youtube (yet NOT monotone to my ears). when you really listen, many of us do sound quite dissimilar to NTs. not sure if i could totally pinpoint the difference though.

I've been listening but I am not good at placing accents where they belong... Its fun to hear the different pronunciations though....

ScientistOfSound's paternal family is Swedish in origin. So that might be the reason why. And I think he lived in Liverpool for a little while. I believe the Liverpoolian(Scouse) accent derives a lot from Norwegian, because Liverpool was a well known port city back in the 19th and 20th century. Not sure if it still is.
