Cats really don't do much. My cats don't do much more than sleep or creep around my room at night(quite annoying while trying to sleep). Cat's are very difficult to train and most people can't get a cat to cooperate during walks.
It really depends on the cat (just like some dogs do really have their own preferences and act strongly on them).
If you want a cat or a dog to have particular traits you need to watch out for them.
My cat is incredibly active during the day time and quite enjoys spending time with me. I don't bring her out on walks, but I have had a previous cat that both played fetch and went out on walks. This one I'm too worried of bringing outside because I'm in a city now.
I've actually researched training cats and its not nearly as hard as most people think it is. I've not started training Ada, yet, but that's because the clicker and cat treats that I just ordered today. I'm planning on training her to come when called.
As a whole though, I think my favorites are the cats that act like dogs.
