I liked Disneyland. I think I would have liked it a bit more if I went alone, rather than my family, as my family kinda slowed me down and didn't let me see and do everything I would have wanted to see, but it's fun.

Basically, the reason I like it is, it's a nice place. In some ways, it's cuddly, nice, full of cartoon animals, people are reasonably happy there, it's the exact opposite of the real world. Plus the big paragraph of appealing to being a kid, or not having a proper childhood, etc. For that reason alone, I'd love to go back again.

Disney vs real life.

You've got a point.

I don't get theme parks either. I've never been to one, but from what I've seen in photos and videos, it's a horribly artificial environment. I'd rather take a walk or a bike tour in nature.

This image did not originate anywhere near Disneyland.

It's a picture of the rear of a store in the Bronx, NY - 3000 miles away from Disneyland on the East Coast!

Specifically:

Steve's World-Store Fixtures
1168 Southern Boulevard
Bronx, NY 10459-1902

Besides, there is no elevated railway in Anaheim (or Orange County, for that matter).

If you people are going to slam my neighborhood, then at least post something that isn't a LIE!

But the poster was using it as an example of real life, not of your neighbourhood.

Within the meta-context of this thread, and in reference to earlier posts, it seems more like an attempt to depict the neighborhood (where I live) near Disneyland as a crumbling slum, which it isn't.

I don't get that. The poster specifically referred to 'real life' and the 'real world', and made no reference to the area outside Disneyland itself.
I think you might be being unfair to them.

Why don't you let the poster explain himself, rather than harass me for being offended by his implication?

I don't think that I'm harrassing you. And the poster is free to correct me.

I went to Disneyland when I was 14, and I thought it was completely insane.

Mind you, that was the first time I'd been to the USA, and the whole country felt like a giant theme park. Everything there was so much brighter, shinier, bigger, and altogether more extraordinary than my little home in Lancashire.

Oh, I wasn't trying to slam your neighborhood. First off, the Disney picture is Orlando Disney. Second off, I was just using that picture as a generality to show bad neighborhoods. I've never been to Anaheim and can't say anything about it one way or the other.

she is not harassing you. 1000Knives explained it, and Henbane had it exactly right (it was pretty straightforward from simply reading the text along with the pictures).

1000Knives, surely i can't be the only person that prefers that urban scene instead of Disneyland? that looks frankly awesome.

I never been & never wish to thanks I dislike the idea of visiting artificial tourist attractions.
Ok at times my own urban area feels like a Disneyland for the Beatles, especially around Matthew Street & the Albert Dock.
As a Scouser going on a ride on the Mersey Ferry feels like a tourist's fair ground ride at times of the year, Ok the Yellow Duckmarine & the Echo Wheel are not bad.

Any way La Princesse back in 2008 was sound plus last years Liver Building centenary celebration by Macula was fantastic, I can't wait intill next month for Royal de Luxe's Titanic commemoration :D
