I've not travelled that much really, but I'll say Venezuela because my best friend and her hubby come from there so I guess people in Venezuela are friendly/warm.
Northern England too, has friendly people with a good sense of humour. (Not saying southern Englanders aren't nice, I just don't know many :) )

The best experience I've had is with people in the USA. We broke down once in a small town in the middle of nowhere and the locals couldn't have been more helpful as were the hire company.

Worst experiences have been in France. We've met some pretty nice people at one extreme, but at the other we've also come across some really rude ones. So on balance, I'm afraid France loses on this one.

I've not really been to enough places to make any real comparison anyway.

I agree with Starr that the North of England's pretty good. But then I would say that, being one of them  .

To be honest, it makes me uncomfortable when people are too friendly anyway. We have a friend who is very touchy-feely, because that's how she was brought up to be. Drives me nuts I'm afraid.

I've been in the US and Canada. I prefer Canadians. Nicer and more laid-back. And I love Canadian comedy.

The South of France (Midi). Hated the people in most of the rest of France tho.

I did see March of the Penguins, and all I could think about was how bad they all must smell.

Israel had some very friendly people when I went there. Police officers gave me clear directions when I asked, sales clerks and shopkeepers made sincere effort to understand me, girls in a club danced with me, and rabbis at the Western Wall told me some cool historical facts. But from what I heard, Israelis in general are quite hospitable, and will make a tourist feel welcome. Being Jewish is a bonus is this case, but not "required". Overall, Israel deserves more credit than it gets.

Been to 27 countries and I'd have to say that the friendliest folks were in Ireland. I'd also rate Northern England, Estonia, and Iceland high too. Icelanders are reserved, but great when you get to know them.
