Let's see, I find Russian and Slavic women pretty hot 99% of the time. I'm part Polish, but my last name is a Polish spelling of a Russian word, so that probably means I'm in some part of my lineage Russian.

One aspect of Russian stuff I'm a bit of a fan of is Russian pop music. My biggest foreign obsession is Japan, but Russian pop music I'm accumulating a good deal of. It mostly started from a Russian guy who goes to my rink playing Angelika Varum's "Winter Cherry" and I immediately asked him what the song was, and then now I got like...10 Angelika Varum songs? Another Russian coach played the pop group Reflex, and I got like 10 or so of their songs, too. I'll eventually accumulate more, but yeah. I also like this one Romanian group Activ quite a bit.

But Russian pop music, though, it's just so... I don't know. It has this warmth, and coldness, and melancholy and happiness, at the same time? I don't know if that makes any sense. It feels quite unique compared to other pop music. I don't entirely know why I like it, but I do. Could possibly be I had that I had a Bosnian babysitter as a kid, and I'd be at her house, so I had a lot of exposure to Slavic lifestyle as a kid, and as far as I know, I was the only one of my siblings that made any attempt at assimilation at it (IE, my 2 sisters wouldn't eat the borek, and I'd be having Turkish coffee at like age 4, awesome back then, haha.)

I really like Angelika Varum's music from the mid 90s. It seems so beautiful.

Also, my church originally was Russian, but now it's English liturgies, but we got lots of Russian people there still, and lots of Russians still come as visitors, and they bring all kinds of nice food.

So, I guess for me it's a bit of a special interest, just not on the level of Japan as a middle schooler. Maybe it'll get close one day, who knows. Can you recommend me anymore Russian music? Pretty cool regardless to find someone else who appreciates Russian stuff, though, I made a thread here about Russian music and got pretty much no responses, it gets kinda lonely. Well, welcome to WP and stuff.
