Who here burns incense? I happen to burn lots of it, which drives my family crazy; I like to sit a cloud of it. Lately I've been using the kind they use in the Orthodox Church, but I also like the Indian kind.

Nah - my mother was big into incense while I was growing-up, and in my old job we got nag champa for free so I had a tone of that, but just don't like it any more and it makes the boyfriend really ill so couldn't burn it even if I wanted to.

I like it when it's not too strong. I usually use Indian.

Incense is awesome. I'd burn it if I could. I like scented candles too, though certain varieties make me feel nauseous - specifically the pine tree-scented candles that come out during the Christmas season. Real pine trees don't make me nauseous though.

I think it's a matter of quality and whether or not it's natural. Unfortunately, a lot of the most widely available incense is low-quality, which means it could make you nauseous. There's a nice pine incense called "Spruce Island," which I like a lot. It's made in a monastery in Boston. Whether we're talking cologne, perfume, incense, or anything else, I avoid cheap stuff. In fact, the cologne I use costs 150 dollars a bottle, and I'm willing to pay that much.

Hate it. Hate it.

Total sensory overload, and not very pleasant. Smelling it for ten seconds is enough to give me a headache and horrible nausea. I would assume that I'm just allergic to it, but I think the more likely explanation is that it's just some really nasty chemical s**t that shouldn't be burned and inhaled in the first place. I'd rather open a bottle of bleach and take a big whiff.

Hate it.

I use incense daily: along with music and soft lighting it's part of my relaxation ritual. I do have increasing difficulty finding an acceptable product however, and I start by looking for a traditional scent rather than a "concept:" Sandalwood rather than Autumn Breeze.

I love incense. I like the sandalwood scented incense. I don't have any room for an incense burner, so I don't burn it.

Unlike air fresheners, it does not give me a headache.

I used to burn it a lot. Sandalwood mostly. I found it blocks out the other random mixed smells, so helped me concentrate/focus.
Unfortunately this place is full of smoke alarms so I can't anymore :?

My favorite probably is Morning Star, Japanese incense. Not too expensive, like $8 a box, not "cheap" but not expensive either. I used to burn a lot of joss sticks, Buddhist incense, I'm not Buddhist, but they're dirt cheap, and an easy way to have some incense going all the time. Lately my sister's bought me a few boxes of mixed sandalwood/Dragon's Blood type stuff, and it's all right, I usually burn that now. I actually hate Nag Champa, it smells like pot. I used to burn incense more, now not so much.

Anyway, for the Orthodox Church incense, stuff is awesome. One person at church told me an easy way to burn it is just put it on top of a lightbulb, instead of using charcoal.

Ugh, personally I can't stand the smell of it or most scented candles either.

I like to burn a little for a short time enough to make the whole room smell. Then I bum it out, wait an hour, and do it again. There are some really gross incense out there which I dislike, usually it's the really cheap kind. The indian nag champa/brands are usually good though. It's the creme sicle, black berry, non indian nag champas that I really dislike. They're cheaply made and smell like a perfume old women would use in the 70's.

I make my own, although most of the time I stick to Dragon's Blood with various minor alterations.

I use it a couple of times a week maybe, but the mix I use is very light so that it's nice without setting me off.

I love nag champa! I use nag champa dreadlock shampoo as well so I can float around in a little fragrant cloud!
