I was taking just a typical afternoon walk with my music plugged in both my ears, which tends to distract me which I figure I can try to get away with even though it is a criminal neighborhood and I have to watch out for anyone who as much as wants to rob me of my iPhone. I was just somewhat close when I walked down this one street when I saw this sphere-like swarming pattern of bees that were taking up pretty much the whole intersection area between both streets I was crossing!! ! Yes, is was the size of the bushy shrub of a medium/biggish size backyard tree!! ! I immediately walked back in tears, basically just having a temporary breakdown.

At first when I got home I acted the same way I did on the way back, and my mom couldn't take it, continuing to tell me to calm down, until I tried more and more to explain just how big this darn swarm was--by the way I should also mention if you don't live in california or even in the bay area you may not know that we're having unusual amounts of bee swarms because of the unusual weather. Perhaps I should just end it here, since I've been writing War and Peace, by saying that I did feel better after talking to my Mom and she explained that I should have at least taken a picture and who knows how far the viral potential could go with just one picture of yet another collossal bee swarm! I don't really know about that, but I do know that I tend to shift back and forth more on just how much I can tolerate insects in general anymore.

so, if i can get some advice...is it possible to capture a bee swarm on camera even if I decided to just go for it several feet just that far off from the bees at all? And if I still fear another bee swarm at all, how do I deal next time? Has anyone else seen one yet this summer?

I have lived in the Bay Area my entire life, and I have never seen what you just described. All I know is I'd be in all-out panic mode if I saw a swarm like that. 8O

If I saw that I'd be afraid to go outside.

I saw a bee swarm last week at my Grandparents house. I am terrified of bees, but luckily I didn't freak out much. I guess it was a shock reaction. We also had a swarm of bees spend at least one night in our walls. Idk if it was the same swarm. We only live a mile apart so it is a possibility.
