It's not much. Cleaning for a preacher friend once a week for $10 an hour, but at least it's something to start with. Maybe he will know some more folks at his church I can clean for.

That's going to start my money stash!! !

Hell yeah! I've got an idea what this means for you right now ... possible freedom!! !

Cheers!!

I bet if you tell him your situation he might be able to hook you up with more work. To give Christians their due, some of the clergy can be pretty helpful at times.

If you want to start a serious business in this you should check out Don Aslett's books. They teach you how to clean quickly and efficiently with minimal waste (one book is probably enough, really). They should be on amazon.com. I spent my entire childhood cleaning houses, hotels and construction sites with my mother.

That's great :) I'm sure you'll get more work from word of mouth.

Thanks everybody!

To the person who said they hope he's nice, he is. He's a friend of ours. His daughter and my daughter are friends. He's a widow and lives alone now that his daughter married and moved out. He can't clean for health reasons and he also doesn't know how. My husband and I have hung out with him quite a few times.

To the person who suggested a book and starting my own business, well starting a business in this small town is really word of mouth. It's one of those "we hire friends and family only" type towns, and if Brother G suggests me to his friends, they will hire me. Plus, it will be cash money, so no paperwork involved. Also, I'm a housewife so cleaning up after people is something I know all about. Been doing it for about 25 years ;-) I've helped him clean up before when he was having people over, for free, just to be nice. But he's needing somebody to come in once a week now, and he thought he would offer me the job since he knows me and knows I need the money, and he knows I do a good job, and also knows I'm his friend and won't steal from him or anything. He's got a huge three story house and lots of dogs.

I'm also the type of house cleaner who will put a couple days worth of dinner on the stove and in the oven to cook while I'm cleaning up, then put it all labeled in the fridge for him for the rest of the week. We will be hitting the grocery store for food and the dollar store for cleaning products on our way to his house every week. Living alone like he does, he doesn't take care of his nutrition very well.

That's great news! It sounds like it's going to be good for him as well as for you. Perfect.
