I can't stand it when someone I'm standing next to starts smoking.

Yeah; it's just majorly annoying, IMO.

Why is smoking not considered every bit as rude?

The odour is stronger still - I've never smelled a fart coming from the car in front of me, unlike cigs.
A fart doesn't stick to someone's hair and skin for hours.
No fart ever stained skin and teeth... perhaps a few skivvies though.
No fart ever put someone in the hospital for allergies.
No fart ever caused cancer from repeat exposure.

Well on a crowded subway, obviously can't smoke cigs inside car, but you have freedom to pass gas. Oh wow the smell on a crowded subway! PLEASE open the door ASAP!! !

I quit smoking, but I've always loved the smell of cigarettes. It reminds me of my grandmother, when I was little her kitchen always smelled like coffee and cigarettes so I find it comforting.

Yes, I hate it. And I also hate the fact that I have to wash my winter coat, as it's still stinking, the next day. Outdoors is just as bad. The fact is that I don't enjoy having the chance to eat al fresco, as the person sitting at the table next to me is allowed to smoke. Whether they agree or not, their smoke does get into other people's faces, hair, lungs and clothing.

The smell gets stuck and I can smell it for days even after they've stopped smoking. Washing your nose 20 times and putting perfume under the nose doesn't help either lol

My Dad used to complain of me smelling of it all the time even though it wasn;t my fault. Maybe that's wh yhe stopped complaining, but I still feel bad. It's not like I can ask my Stepdad to stop. I'm too scared. Even though my siblings both have asthma.

I quite like being in the company of a smoker. My mother and her sisters are smokers, so I sort of grew up with it. Never started smoking myself (I consider it expensive and fear I would be risking a nicotine addiction), but cigarette smoke is a comfy, familiar scent for me.
