Cool! I will try to see that, as I live in the west. Thanks for posting this.
Also, I got sidetracked (pun intended) and watched this massive snow-plow train video:

:) be well worth it seeing it in steam once more i dreamed of the day a big boy will run again now its come true. Union Pacific steam crew should be given a pat on the back for their hard work getting 4014 out of the meseum all has to be done now is the move to Colton everyone will be happy when it leaves pomana for the last time after completing 5000 feet across the parking lot to get towards the fence where pomana station. bring on stage 2 the move to colton

That's great news. I can't wait until the restoration is done and he's up and running. :)

My grandpa told of being sad when the steam driven whistles were no longer heard, and the blasts from the diesels just didn't have the same winsome sound.

i agree alpineglow everything is getting modernised trains have high horsepowered locos as here in australia our locomotives haul freights nowdays range from 4020hp to 4500hp and up to 1500m to 1800m in length freight trains we get over here we use GE or EMD types eg UGL or EDi bulit locos. cant beat a steam train at all steam will always rule over diesels

It'd be great to see a Big Boy return to steam again, although I am a little disheartened that it's not 4006. Oh well, if things go all right with finishing my education, I intend to go work for the UP and maybe get on the steam program, for it's long been a dream of mine to be a steam locomotive engineer.

I personally would be happy to work on any steamer, but to go work on a Big Boy would certainly be a feather in my railfanning cap.

i would love to do the same thing work on the big boy when its in operational status lubracating the loco with grease on the wheels. 4014 will be not a coal burner loco it will be a oil burner just like 844 and Challenger 3985

Awesome locomotive, thanks for the updates.

I hope that they manage to get it in steam again.

I love trains and have a special affection for steam even though it was before my time.

last i checked somewhere they say a big boy is 6000hp not bad for a steam loco

with great news everybody that 4014 will move onto the mainline on 26th of January to begin part 2 of her move to colton for further work

exciting news for everyone to follow 4014s journey to be in full working order :)
