I'm just pretty enthusiastic about the things I like.

Same here and people find my honesty "refreshing."

I see the world differently than everybody else does.

I notice things others don't, I have a very long memory, and little kids seem to be drawn to and feel safe around me.

I wouldn't be so inspiring and I wouldn't have this strong, awesome personality without it. I love being an Aspie. Keeps me young. 8)
And my special interest and my role in it is pretty awesome.

I'm pretty sure it's the reason why I can see so many patterns and break things down in a way most people don't seem to do. I've applied this to a lot of social thinking and situations dealing with people. Getting my thoughts into words is always a problem, but when I can write them out or take the time to beat around the bush making my point when talking, I can make really convincing and in-depth points about stuff.

For example, this last weekend I was at a leadership school for the Civil Air Patrol. I had a hard time expressing a lot of thoughts regarding social things like counseling in discussions, but I made my ideas make perfect sense on paper and got a good grade.

It's also the reason I can memorize so much random crap about trains, music, the military, history, movies, planes, guns, accent, and just about every other odd thing I'm interested in.

I would too. Or anything to make me feel less out of place.

On the plus side, I think I would be boring without it (although how would I know). I'm convinced I wouldn't be as intelligent. I'm sure I'd have a bunch of really mundane interests without it, like obsessions with clothes or something.
