I've debated the idea of trying to take MENSA's entry test. My most recent IQ test was 11 years ago and was when I was being evaluated, so with the treatment I've gotten since then, I have to imagine I'd score a little higher than I did then. However, even if I do score higher generally, I have a problem. All IQ tests I've ever taken (and all other tests after that) always show a huge disparity between the verbal and nonverbal scores - 30 points or so, favoring verbal. The psychologist said that made the composite score - 100-some-odd - useless. But whether or not I'd get in would probably be judged based on that composite score, no? In that case, it's probably not even worth trying, right? Any thoughts?

Why not just do the test anyway and see how you score. I did the Mensa paper based IQ test in my twenties and scored 150. This was before the days of the internet. I don't know how the score was apportioned back then. I'd imagine my IQ has dropped over the last few years, largely due to diabetes which slowly causes damage to the brain.

how do you go about taking a mensa or IQ test?

I know there's a bunch online but none of them seem very reliable.

You can ask MENSA to do it specially, or you can have it professionally done by a psychologist. They accept some standardized tests, too, which they list on their site. I've been thinking of asking a psychologist to do a retest anyway because I want to get a clearer idea of where my strengths and weaknesses lie post-treatment.

Mensa came to the university I attended and they offered a free IQ test to anyone that wanted one. I think they were looking for members because once they saw my result they were quite keen for me to join.

Some famous Mensa members:

Isaac Asimov
Geena Davis
General Norman Schwarzkopf
Sir Clive Sinclair
