Oh, yeah..... I used to work as a Home Health Aide----so, in addition to working with the elderly, I also worked with the developmentally disabled.
Also, when I was growing-up, I knew alot of people with disabilities----to include Multiple Sclerosis, mental retardation (that's what they called it, in those days), polio, Downs Syndrome, leukemia, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Lupus (in the days when such a dx meant a horrible death)..... I can't think of any others, right now.....
Oh----and one of my cousins fell off of a tractor and got one of his arms, chopped-off, and my aunt dated a blind man----and, I also met 2 people who could only talk when they pressed into their trachea.
