Around here, there are huge winged cockroaches in the summer nights, and I'm scared of them. there are a zillion feral cats, and I'm fascinated by them. They leap from garbage cans and live in backyards, but they walk around the sidewalk and parks and whatever. there are also many dogs, especially poodles and German Shepherds. on very slight occasion a hedghog. only once I saw a turtle.

you almost never see a mouse/rat around here because of all those cats. no squirrles. many birds, especially sparrows.

I have seen big wild kangaroos at a uni campus.
I also see some fairly large mostly green (with yellow red or whatever) birds flying in small groups. I don't know what they are called.
Also many magpies (black and white birds).
Crows that seem to have forgotten how to caw properly.

Many cockroaches. At night they are crawling everywhere.
Snails when it rains. It's hard not to step on them as there are so many.
Mice. Maybe we should introduce some feral cats (just throw away unwanted cats?) to get rid of mice.
Many redback spiders.

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any for now.

Deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, wolves, bats, possums, badgers (I think), groundhogs, um....I'm sure I'm missing a lot.

There are all kinds of birds here too. Aside from the usual small birds like cardinals and sparrows, there are also owls, hawks, eagles (or so I've heard), turkeys, sandhill cranes (?), vultures, etc.

Then for insects......bleh. Too many. The one that worries me the most are the wolf spiders as they can get as big as a human hand. Every 8 years or so we get a massive cicada migration that stays for awhile and my GOD is it loud. Imagine being surrounded by dozens of lawn mowers running at full power and thats about what it sounds like. Actually......I think either this year or the next is time again..... :|

Being in Florida we have a lot of alligators. There is a pond in the complex I live in and a few on campus with signs reminding people to not feed the alligators, including (until a few years ago) one reminding people to "not swim when alligators are present". Generally they do not bother people unless they are provoked (e.g. fed, threatened, chased, etc.). Other animals around include squirrels (they are everywhere), frogs (they can be noisy during the rainy season) and the occasional feral cat.

I wouldnt swim when alligators are present with or without warning signs. it's suicide. I'm surprised to hear they dont bother people unless provoked. Guess they're less dangerous than i thought.

I live in Florida as well, and the most wildlife I've seen as of right now is the rather large amount of cockroaches that are season, currently. Disgusting creatures!

In the forest there are tits, deer, sparrows, foxes, squirrels and woodpeckers.

At the lake there are, mallards, coots, sometimes swans, crested grebes, tufted ducks and a long time ago i saw a heron there.

Deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, bats, possums, feral cats (outside), mice (inside)----I can't think of any other animals.....

As for bugs: mostly, I just get about 3 or 4, a month (stink bugs; little, nasty, real solid, black spiders----they're not that big, but I SWEAR I can see the hair on their legs; and lightning bugs), because I found-out how they get-in----through the drains----so, I plugged all mine up.

Birds: Woodpeckers (drive me nuts, if they're close to my building----if they're out in the woods, I actually think they sound cool), sparrows, owls, cardinals, Blue Jays, hawks, eagles and vultures (I've only seen each of them, 3 or 4 times), Canadian geese (they pass-through, on their way to Florida, I guess, when they migrate)..... I could LOOK at birds all-day-long, but I don't want to HEAR them!! Every morning, the sparrows alight on my balcony, and talk with all their friends----and, if they stay too long, I throw a small, empty medicine bottle at the window (I keep it near me, for this reason. I throw it hard enough to rattle the closed mini-blinds----but, not hard enough to go-through the mini blinds, and hit the window----and they fly-off. Ahhhh----the SILENCE, that follows.)

Also, we (the people in this area) get a BAZILLION seagulls, EVERY DAY----and we are 3 hours from the shore, so I've never been able to figure this out----and I was born and raised here----no one, here, knows why we get them!!

We have birds, and bugs for the most part. There are also quite a few neighborhood cats that wander about as well.

We also have feral cats, but their numbers have diminished greatly. I see a lot of squirrels, deer, and rabbits--along with the birds. Not too many insects survive our winter, which I'm grateful for.

More types of birds than I'd care to list, squirrels, groundhogs, foxes, coyotes, raccoon, possums, cats, deer, rabbits, bats, skunks, frogs, turtles

Most of those I've seen in my own backyard.
