(Surprisingly enough, despite my name, I never started a thread like this.) I have two turtles and have an interest with turtles! ImageImage
These are my turtles and they live together and do funny things throughout the day. Post turtle things here!

Wow, more turtle-lovers.

Skilpadde, you need to see this thread.

My turtles do the same thing! Apparently, they do it in the sun to maximize heat exposure. They also do it when sleeping because it's too much effort for them to sleep while standing up.

Your turtles are really lovely, Begging Turtle! :D What are their names?

By the way, I've always liked your username and avatar :)

I used to have 2 turtles, I recently posted about them in the Pet Chat. I don't wanna double post, so here's a link:

The red eared slider is simply named "Red", I couldn't think of a good name. The yellow bellied slider is named Plato. I used to have a Cumberland slider named Homer, who hatched with Plato in Chinatown aquarium, but he ran away and likely did not survive. :(

Do your turtles live in a pond, or a tank? Mine swim into the glass, bonk each other's heads, and splash when they are hungry!

My turtles lived in separate aquariums. (We tried putting them together, but Nikita would attack Nemo. Although she stopped doing that, they kept their two tanks as they really needed the space.)

Mine would also swim into the glass and dance before it when they wanted food. And they crawled up on their house and tried to climb out. Turtles are so lively! :D

I am really sorry to hear about Homer's sad fate. :( That's just awful... I am so sorry for you both...

Last year, I had adopted a red-eared slider named Leroy from a neighbor and that's how I got a tank for the turtles. He was at least 24 cm and 3 times the size of the other turtles and likely had not seen a turtle since he hatched, so he attacked them. :( Also, we learned that his daughter (23) had Leroy since 7th grade (12-13) when he was a hatchling. So with this in mind of 2014, he was at least 10 years old! He was also outgrowing the tank and felt bad for him as he did not enjoy the presence of humans, unless they were feeding him. I released him at a local resovior with no other turtle species that could potentially be infected by salmonella, and given his age, he likely had a good chance of survival, but it's difficult to catch him again.

He's probably happier now. :)

Poor Leroy, sounds like he was an unhappy turtle if he neither liked other turtles nor humans. I hope he's happy now that he's in the wild :)

I love my turtle! :D

..but my turtle is a nearly 8 year old girl. :P

She's my high school best friend's first born, and my youngest God daughter.

Back when she was just an infant and couldn't quite crawl yet, she managed to roll over onto her back and then had her arms and legs kind of flailing about and her mom pointed and said "like a turtle!" and it just stuck as her nickname ever since. She will alllllways be my little turtle. :) For every birthday/holiday I almost always find her some new turtle thing or another.. little stone carved turtles, a glass turtle pendant, stuffed turtles, toy turtles etc. She's cherished her little turtle toys over the years & it's so super cute. She has other interests, but she always smiles at opening up whatever new turtle I've managed to find for her.

Meanwhile her little brother is "ele boy" (L-E boy) because he's taken a massive liking to anything elephants.
