Walkmans were just before my time, but I think I recall seeing some when I was little. But I am old enough to remember Blockbusters and VHS tapes.

Was the title of this thread intended as a pun, because I found it quite funny.

^^^he OP didn't intend it as pun but to me it is a functional pun due to the fact that in this case we all "hear remember" our walkmans if we had one.

The Walkman was my first way of taking my music with me. :D

Indeed they can be. Especially if the person who punned was unaware of the pun.

that reminds me of when my shrink asked me how my life was going, and I distractedly replied, "oh, things are just peaches and scream!"

Yeah, I used to have a portable cassette player (Not Walkman branded, but close enough), and it had a Tetris-like LCD game built into it.

I don't miss cassettes one bit now, but when Walkmans first came out I remember it being a total thrill to actually be able to hear music of your choice in a portable situation, because back then that was pretty much the first time that happened (radio isn't the same because it's chosen for you).

I had two models in succession, which automatically played the flip-side. The second one I had also recorded from its radio and from a little microphone.

I don't miss them now though. Cassettes were very poor in terms of both sound quality and physical failure.

While we are on the subject of older tech, anyone remember VHS tapes? "Rewind before you return!" :)

My mom still uses VCRs to record shows. She buys VCRs whenever she finds them at the Re store & other charity stores.
