What would happen if someone went back in time and prevented their parents from meeting? What would happen to that person?

That's the old "grandfather paradox" of time travel.

The way its usually stated is: you go back in time, you meet your granddad back when he was young, you pull out a pistol and shoot him dead, so he never meets your grandma, so you never get born. And because you never get born you don't grow up to become the adult who boards the time machine to go back in time, which means that you DONT shoot your granddad, which means that your parents DO meet, and you that DO get born, which means that you DO make the trip back in time to shoot your granddad, which means that you don't get born, which means....

There would be two versions of time happening simultaneously. In one version, that person would exist, and in the other version the person won't.

I had very dark times in my life when I wished I had never been born. I thought my life was pain for everyone associated with me. It is only now that I feel as though my life is beginning to have some purpose.

I would say that when that person went back to their own time there would be no record of their existence. Everything they owned wouldn't be theirs any longer. Any family they had wouldn't know who they were.

The universe would implode maybe. other thing is you could possibly create a second timeline where your not born with an original timeline where you were born (which you come from) thus being two dimensions
