Sometimes my lisp slips out

Usually I'm good at watching my words, but if I get comfortable in a conversation/ really into the topic I am talking about sometimes I start lisping. As my speech gets faster, I pay less attention to how I'm saying my words and this leads to errors.

Especially with P and S sounds. Apparently I have what they refer to as a sibilant S. (Making a Sh sound, or if you prefer...a hissing S). When speaking fast, my P's usually end up becoming a "PL" sound. I don't think I'm going to live down saying "Mishon Imploshible" anytime soon...(an error I made quite recently).

Typically I pace my speech, and for certain words I slightly slow down to make sure I don't add any sounds that shouldn't be there.

However, when talking quickly mistakes do happen. Some words I tend to avoid all together.

I don't completely understand what a complete lisp is like (although I did have a slight lisp as a child) however, I had jaw surgery which required me to keep a splint in my mouth for 8 weeks (3 of them with my mouth wired shut). Keeping the splint in gave me a lisp and it was rather embarrassing.

Also with my braces, I have a problem pronouncing "th"
