Today I ordered my new Ibanez RG1570 Prestige guitar. It won't be here until August 15, but I'm already stoked about it. It's a Japanese-made superstrat model with Ibanez V8 bridge hum, V7 neck hum, and a central S8 single coil pickup. It uses an Edge Pro Floyd Rose bridge/locking nut system which is the same used on some of the Steve Vai signiture models. The whole guitar is absolutely amazing. I played a very watered-down version of it (the Ibanez RG370DXMP) at the music store and it was awesome, so the RG1570 must be beyond incredible.

All technical jargon aside, I am going to need a great name for it. Apparently you're supposed to name your guitar after the first girl you fell in love with, but since that never happened for me I don't know what to name it. Anyone have any good suggestions on names for it? Something sexy, yet sophisticated would be perfect.

How about.. Persephone (pronounced purr-sef-on-ee).

I always thought that was a sophosticated and beautiful name.

or, pronounce it "per se phone"... "per se" meaning "by itself" and "phone" meaning "voice of". a musical pun of sorts, which is funny in an ironic way since an electric guitar is one of the few instruments that doesn't make noise by itself (actually, i can't think of any others, unless you count bass guitar as a seperate instrument rather than a variation).

//

i named my instrument scarlet because "scarlet beans" is an anagram for "bass clarinet".. maybe try that approach?

I'd call it Colin.

Or possibly Nigel.

At the end of the day the only thing which really matters is the sound which it makes 8)

I would call it Alex. Short for alexithymia which means lack of emotion.

I am jealous. I have an Ibanez Electric Bass (red), but it is a lower-end model. It sounds okay. I also have a black Omen 6 Electric Guitar made by Schecter. It's nice, but no whammy bar.

I bought a Line 6 Spider III 15-Watt Amp with it that has six effects, which I find can be very fun to use.

I am looking for a Wah Peddle. Any suggestions?

I use the Ibanez WD7 Weeping Demon. It's very versatile because, unlike most wah pedals, it has an array of switches and knobs to customize the sound with. It also has a special setting for playing bass through it, a footswitch, and a time-delay control so you can add short bursts of wah into your music without needing to turn the pedal on and off.

Cool looking guitar, 8) And I've heard nothing but good things about Line-6 amps from players where I live.

I thought about that, actually. It looks sort of like a Cassandra. I'll have to see it in person first, though.

As for Line 6 amps, they are modeling machines. This means that you can sound exactly like your favorite artists, but you'll always have a sort of "fake guitar" sound like you get with Digitech pedals rather than your own real tone. I'd take a Peavey Vale King over the Spider III any day.
