Is there an etiquette about how long you wait for someone on a scheduled Zoom appointment?

I was supposed to talk to my Neuropsychiatrist. The appointment was booked for three months and I even got an appointment reminder two days ago. The time came and he didn't join. I waited an hour and gave up. I couldn't contact him directly because he is working from home. He didn't text or email to say he was delayed.

I just hope I wasn't rude by hanging up.

You were definitely not rude. There may have been a mixup somewhere with scheduling or communication between the doctor and support staff. It happens, and you did nothing wrong. In fact, waiting an hour is much more patient than most people would have been!

I am thinking about weather or not it is possible hypothetically to make friends here that I can later have as friends in person.

No doubt lots of people have made friends here. Just be sure you get to know them very well before you meet them offline and be sure to meet them in a public place when you do.

I realise that I'm probably very asocial, even for the spectrum. I've been registered for 2 years and read this site several times daily, but have almost 0.001% ability to add to a discussion. I should emigrate to the Vostok station or something.

Oh it gets better. I got an auto-generated email invoice for payment because I had "missed" the appointment. I emailed them back with screenshots of me waiting on hold for an hour. No way was I going to pay for a missed appointment. They apologised and said they had technical issues on their end, and the invoice was sent in error. We'll try again next week.

Whew.

This place is the only place online where I read about autism being tragic. I don't think it is. I can't remember reading that stuff on here before, it's all recent. I like being autistic.

My wife has noticed that I’m doing a lot more tapping than normal these days ( I’m
Uber anxious ) .... she says I kinda zone out and tap wonderful rhythms out ..

I’m don’t recall the rhythms afterwards.. but I do them when I’m deep in thought ..

Does anyone else do this ???

Thank you !

That was interesting to contribute. I hope you're willing to add something again tomorrow.

I rarely have anything to add to a discussion, but I post anyway  I probably annoy plenty of people by doing so, though, I feel like in general I’m pretty annoying.

It took me several years (don’t remember exactly how many) of exclusively lurking before I managed to work up the courage and confidence to actually post anything, but once I did I slowly got used to it and now I can’t keep my mouth shut (...err, my fingers still)

I'm asocial myself, just easily bored.
Bored enough to be social from time to time. As if socializing is just another activity no different from anything non social really.

If I wasn't bored half the time, I may not post around here for passing time's sake or bother at all.

In essence, I'm an ambivert instead of the usual introvert -- which is a more match with being asocial's image of being recluse/shut-in/awkward/closed off, relatable/easily mistaken for schizoid or socially intolerant/anxious.

I'm generally appreciative of your contributions, for whatever that's worth.
