Has anybody ever seen A Beautiful Mind? I don't know how factual it was, but John Nash to me came off as a very likely Aspie.

I think that just about any famous writer or composer of the past must have been "on the spectrum," because it is impossible to be so productive (composing or writing new pieces constantly) and still have a social life! Also, Classical musicians (eg., Glenn Gould) spend most of their time practicing their instruments and memorizing music. So, they have little time for people, either. It seems to me that such musicians must not really care if they have time to socialize. I know that I never did, when I was a piano major in college.
This is why there are generally many Classical composers and musicians on people's lists of famous Aspergians. There should probably be famous writers, such as Dickens, Dostoeyevsky, Hugo, etc., on these lists as well.

Stalin may have been OCD. I read that his fellow Communist party members called him "Comrade Card-Index."

General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson (1824-1863). Corps commander in the Army of Northern Virginia. It is believed that he most likely had Aspergers Syndrome. An Extremely effective commander who's tactics are still studied to this day.

ANYONE can be dedicated to the arts, not just aspies. Also wasn't Mozart big on parties? :P

Anyways, I really don't think you can diagnose historical figures, sure, you can read books and biographies about them but it would never be the same as actually taking them to a psychiatrist for diagnosis. Also it seems that everyone and their mom has AS- I mean, it's getting more and more common everyday, it seems.

Don't forget Sinead O' Conner. She is going to be on the Oprah show sometime in the next week (sorry I don't know which day exactly, I'll look it up later) and the show is about Bipolar Disorder. So many of us at WP figured Sinead was an Aspie... had no idea about the bipolar. Or maybe she isn't bipolar.. maybe she is there to talk about a loved one that has it or something.

Bipolar maybe, but I doubt she could be an Asperger indeed. She behaves like a bipolar certainly but on the other hand, something is missing. I mean - that introversy and lack of joy during socialisation. On the other hand, Einstein, Edison, Dylan, Numan, Barrett, Gates and others obviously like(d) to have their own worlds...

The connection between AS and BD can't be that tight. You can't say a bat is a bird just because it can fly.
It's likely that many aspergers are bipolar, on the other hand there are quite a lot of bipolar people (unlike Aspergers) so likeliness that an asperger could be bipolar is much higher than the opposite...
