That's easy!
CATS!

Dogs are smelly, noisy, don't respect your personal space, and are needy.

And dogs pretty much like people by default.

Cats are less obtrusive, lower maintenance, and more independent.

And cats don't automatically like you. If I a cat likes me then I feel I have accomplished something.

I'm a cat person. But that's not to say I don't respect dogs. I'd hate to see a dog hurt, and I'd pet a dog and give it love if I was in the same room as one, if it was friendly of course, which most are. But I'm still a cat person. I grew up with cats, and I used to be terrified of dogs when I was a kid, although I grew out of it.

I believe that if one is afraid of cats and there was a cat nearby it would probably leave you alone, especially if you show fear. But if you're afraid of dogs and there's a dog nearby it would probably run up to you, especially if you show fear. Also an unfriendly cat is more likely to walk away, where as an unfriendly dog is more likely to bite you. But I'm not saying it's the same for every cat and dog, just in general.

Cats are weaker than dogs so if a cat did attack you it's easier to pull them away then they'd probably run away after that (you may be terribly scratched but less likely to have severe wounds). If a dog attacked you, even a small dog, their jaws can be very strong and can be hard to get them off you, resulting in possibly life-threatening wounds.

Lastly I hate when some extreme dog-lovers say heartless things about cats.

Excellent responses from both of you. I'm also a Cat Person.

And great point about Dog lovers who degrade Cats.

Thank You both for your responses.

Currently, I'm a dog person. I wasn't always though. I used to have cats and when I was young, and I was very much a cat person back then and didn't much care for dogs at all. A few years ago, I got a dog and he's my dude. I adore that guy. He's my nap, cardio, camping, and hiking buddy. I've come to gain an appreciation for dogs, especially my dog. Our energy levels match up nicely good so we're a good fit.

I like cats.

They're quiet, soft, clean, and they purr.

I can't stand dog smell.
They bark
And roll in dead stuff and eat their own vomit and poo.
They kill people, mostly children.

Also, most dog owners around here will let their dogs do anything unchecked, like their dogs will pee on your tent and camping gear when you're camping and they don't care.
Also had someone tie their dog out the front of a public toilet so you couldnt access it without potentially being bitten.
And some will let their dogs lick and jump all over you.
The neighbour's 3 dogs are always coming onto my property and constantly barking at me while I'm minding my own business trying to do yard work.
I could go on and on.

Cats seem a lot less bothersome, but they do have their downsides too, such as killing wildlife.

Dogs can kill wildlife too. I remember when I was walking my uncle's Alsatian (beautiful, friendly dog), and he ran off in the field and came back with a dead rabbit in his mouth and was biting and chewing it like it was a toy. I got so upset, as I hate seeing animals die or already dead. I told the dog off.

I see, we can all admit that both have their pros & cons.

I just feel, that I get along better with Cats because I like my personal space

I also love the sounds Cats make, especially purring.

But I give zero shame to anybody who prefers Dogs.

As long as you get a fluffy companion that you love, that's all that matters.

Yes.

I used to work with this extreme dog-lover who despised cats because they peed on her flowers. So when she'd heard her neighbour's cat had passed away she laughed and gloated. I thought that was so heartless and mean. I would never laugh at a dog that had died, not even to myself.

I'm more of a cat person, but I do like dogs, both Cats and Dogs are special in their own way.

I like both cats and dogs. Dog chase sticks, cats think why is that stick going to benefit me.
