I'm NOT saying that guns here in American are not a major problem but I think that guns are a symptom of a much bigger problem. The American dream is UNobtainable for many Americans. The big businesses & mega wealthy have majorly rigged the system in their favor. They encourage individuals to blame & fight with each other in order to make them scapegoats for all of societies problems & so the wealthy can make even more money. I bet that gun violence would majorly decline if the system was overhauled to be a lot more fairer to the average citizen. Our government spends tons of money on our majorly bloated military budget so we can police the rest of the world while ignoring & blaming our own citizens. Instead of trying to restrict guns & making responsible gun owners feel accused & blamed, we should be focused on trying to give a leg up & helping hand to our most vulnerable & needy citizens. Provide quality & free health care, especially for mental health. Help people find & maintain gainful employment like raising the federal minimum-wage that has not risen in 15 years despite the rapid inflation, provide quality free higher education, invest more heavily in vocational rehabilitation services to help disabled people be employed & be able pay back into the system with their taxes instead of continuing to be forced to rely upon it. End the failed war on drugs. Crack down on bullying in schools, in the workplace, & within our government.

Thinks this one post has much wisdom in it .! ! 8O :| following the above gidelines could be a great step in providing a worthwhile future in the USA , for everybody ..,personally think the real problem , might be better associated with the values are politicuans reinforce upon society. Using media and everything else our gov. can use to maintain control over the bloated and inflated status that they seem to enjoy .At the cost over everyone else .
Old Adage comes to mind here ,( if guns are banned only the criminals will have guns) { substitute the word criminals for whatever governmental body that seeks control over the god given rights of their people .}

" have personally 'seen first hand' the right to life , liberty and pursuit of a peaceful life snuffed out literally in my own family
by the above entities , during peace time in my own home."

I find some guns very fascinating. Especially machine guns and lugers.
Those can be very fun in video-games  The only type of guns I shot in real life that were not toys when I was a kid were BB & pellet guns. My bad vision & motor skills causes my accuracy to majorly s#ck. I haven't shot them in 11 years, last time I shot was sometime before I moved in with my girlfriend. My parents had a backyard I could shoot in & my grandparents had a field in back their house. It's a lot harder to go shooting living in an apartment. One my neighbors recently invited me to go to a shooting range with him one day & I would be interested since he has at least one BB &/or pellet gun in addition to various other guns. He was a sniper in the military so he knows what he's doing. Shooting might help my motor skills a tiny bit. Plus it would be good for me to go out & do something with someone other than my gf. She complains about how I don't have anyone to talk to except her. Cass doesn't have close offline friends either these days but she's very close with her family physically & emotionally & I never been emotionally close with my family so I only call my parents about 1ce a week to talk for an hour. I majorly s#ck at reaching out to others thou & having to knock on someone's door to discuss plans freaks me out. Maybe next time I pass him outside or in our building I'll try harder to talk a bit more & get something in the works.

Especially since guns are just mere, albeit dangerous, tools for warfare and hunting.

Kitchen knives and hammers are dangerous tools too yet I don't see people wanting to ban them. Just a thought.

Frankly I don't think the problem with the US is the guns, it's the people in the US who are the problem.

There are quite a lot of people trying to ban knives (including standard kitchen knives) in the UK.

In the US, many places have restrictions on knives.

There are restrictions on knives in the USA, like some you have to be 18+ to buy.

There are stricter restrictions on knives in Canada. Plenty of knives legal to buy in the USA are not legal to bring into Canada. Like automatic opening knives, butterfly knives, and anything that can be opened with one hand. Also blade lengths are restricted.

But basic pocket knives and Swiss Army knives etc are fine, same for larger hunting knives. But the kind designed and sold specifically for use as a weapon in a knife fight.. not so much.

Saw someone with a sticker on their car that said love but spelled with letters made of guns. I joked with my boyfriend by saying...'ha ha, do you figure he sleeps with them guns too, the love of his life is guns and we both laughe a bit and thought it was pretty sad and pathetic.

or the lovely stickers that say 'if your honking they are reloading'...so what they're going to shoot you if you honk when they're in the way.

Thanx for the support :D It probably won't be very soon but I should try responding more at least.
I completely agree with you about politicians but it's hard for me to stop 1ce I really get started b!tching about them. Plus people tune out after a bit anyway & the more they feel pressured to come around, the more they want to rebel.

Like guns, some states in the US have more restrictions on knives & other weapons while other states are more lax. Just cuz something is illegal in one state does not really stop people there from acquiring it. For example Vermont has some restrictions on switchblade length but I still have one that's over. I never taken it outside our apartment since getting it, it's kewl to have & fun to play with  Lots of sites that sell knives & other weapons won't ship certain things to some states but it's hard to know the exact laws for each area & there's lots of gray area. Different areas having different rules makes things overly complicated & confusing. In the case of guns, assault rifles are banned in some places but people can still get them in other places & easily bring them in. It's not like there are sector police surrounding the perimeter of every city that thoroughly searches every person & product that enters & I would NOT want to live in that authoritarian hellhole.

I know the Church of England launched a petition, but how likely was that to actually do anything?
