I think I worry in case I won't be able to pay my direct debits. Apparently my bank can charge you if you go below £0.00, which is a pretty dumb rule because how can you pay more when you haven't got the money? Sometimes it's not your fault your money gets eaten up, especially when you live in a city where it's so easy to get a fine because things aren't clearly sign-posted on where you're allowed to park or drive.
It's like the government want to make the poor poorer then punish us if we don't have the money. It just isn't fair and it doesn't help with anxiety and mental health.
Being poor is stressful and expensive. It's stupid, but reality. Banks here charge overdraft fees to and then tack on extra every day you're in the negative. You can end up owing hundreds after a few days if you start off a couple dollars in the negative because of something like an atm fee someone forgot to consider (I had an ex who did that to me a few times). That stuff always blew my mind. Same here with reconnect fees. Like if you can't pay your water or power bill one month, they charge you something crazy like $100 to turn it back on if they shut you off for non payment on top of late fees. And you can't even ask for help from local organizations or govt. organizations with paying your water or power until it's shut off because you're considered a non emergency. Most non essential companies charge late fees to, so if you have to fix your car or something and you're late on, say a credit card or student loan payment because of it, you 'll pay for that the next month and be behind on something else that you'll pay for the next month and the cycle continues on. This kind of stuff makes me nutty. I agree, it isn't fair. And truth, it does no one any good to stress money stuff...it's no good for overall health and wellbeing. And it seems so unnecessary to me. How hard is to not penalize the crap out of people who are barely getting by in the first place? It's like the odds are so stacked against you.
Well. That was a bit of a tirade, huh?
While I'm here...the air quality outside is dangerous again for high risk groups as well as times today it will be dangerous for everyone. I'm feeling it again today. My lungs feel heavy and I'm coughing, the dog is coughing like crazy to. I still have random skin rash crap from it as well. My oldest daughter has the same stuff going on with her. I feel bad for her though, she's way closer to Detroit than I am and they're getting hit extra hard lately. From what I read, this whole month might play out like this. Between the smoke and the ozone, it's rough out here. I can't imagine how brutal it has to be for people in Canada. This stuff is crazy.
