I don't even know him.
But from what I've read, the hate has got nothing to do with his success.

Idealizing someone based on one's idea of success is somewhat superficial.
It's like admiring someone for their looks.

But to find that person do not resonate with your morals, political views, the way that person treats other people (or even, say, animals and the environment), finding out their methods of success to be a let down or even their lifestyle?

Especially, as someone with greater fame and success -- they'd get a higher expectations of these things.

Doesn't matter if they're common human with flaws, doesn't matter it they cannot help it or not, doesn't matter the source of their flaws.

Because they get the spotlight. Meaning they're open to whatever opinion, positive or negative, against them.
And are expected to be 'models' of what humans could do. Unless their PR schtick is sympathetic or something that can get away with such expectation...

Yeah but you don’t really have the right to not be offended by someone else’s speech..

Remember this yourself -- since you hate autism so much.

This statement is a sign of lack of empathy.

I could care less if your culture or upbringing is more stoic and declared more superior or whatever.

To declare someone who should or shouldn't, especially even as a 'right' is imposing one's own view onto another.

As much as others don't speak for you...
... Don't speak for them either. :o

Let's see, he's an out-of-touch nepo baby who tries to portray himself as a real life Tony Stark but is actually an insufferable, thin-skinned, self-absorbed as*hole.

He's a rare example of someone who might lack any redeeming qualities.

I dislike Elon Musk because he is a modern version of Thomas Edison. If you do not know your history, Edison later in life greatly profited off of the hard work of other inventors and took their credit along the way. Yes, Edison invented new technology, but Tesla was far stronger in that ability. Ironic to think that Edison royally screwed over Tesla, yet Musk named his company Tesla, not Edison (which is a better fit).

I don't know who he is or anything about him, except I asked once before and I think he makes cars. Now that I see he's related to the Starlink thing I dislike him for polluting the sky and trying to make everyone dependent on him.

I used to ask this question but can now see why even aspies dislike him. Interesting how there are so many explanations in this thread for this dislike. I agree with most of it. He should have stayed away from politics and not bought twitter. Compare aspie Bill Gates who still gets plenty of hate just from his philanthropic work even though he is much better at avoiding politics.

I actually never really wanted to be successful. I always knew being a baller was never in the cads for me. Plus I like keeping a low profile & I don't care about owning lots of stuff. I just want a comfortable stress free life.

Musk says he is on the Autism Spectrum. That sounds reasonable to me. His special interest could be to develop large companies based on advanced technology (like Edison, Tesla, Gates, etc.).

And Musk is rich. He is rich enough that he can pretty much do whatever he wants.

Are his Autistic traits unconstrained because of his wealth?
I didn't even know he was autistic. The media focuses on his sucess, his political stuff, & his supposed great life changing tech inventions.

I don't actually hate him. I'm intrigued by him. I sort of fear him. He certainly is bigger than life. I mean who else parks their car in outer space? I can never hope to achieve anything close to his long and impressive list of accomplishments. I never want to be compared to him. I'm not in his league.

Like all of us, he deserves the right to make his own life according to his own dreams as long as it's legal.

Since the human race has indeed produced a character such as Elon Musk, I am eternally grateful that he is an American and not a Russian, Chinese, or Iranian. If he were Russian, I would probably hate him too. Someone like Elon Musk could be a lot worse if he grew up in an authoritarian culture. He could have developed a much more sinister world view than he already has. He could be an evil genius.

I look at the great Russian pianists of today like Evgeny Kissin, or Vladimir Ashkenazy who are very accomplished geniuses in their craft. People aren't going to be hurt with their piano music, but some other Russians sure could hurt a lot of people if they were geniuses with the powerful technology that Musk dabbles in. His starlink system has already changed things in the Ukraine war. He launches military satellites. If we have to have an Elon Musk then I want him to be an American, warts and all. That takes a load off my mind.

I'm practicing gratitude today.

^Elon Musk was not born in the USA but born and raised in South Africa. He moved to Canada when he was 18 years old where he acquired citizenship through his Canadian-born mother. I don't know what his current citizenship status is of today.

He's all right wing, and has made twitter a place for nazis, though I never did like twitter so I don't have an account anyways....before all that I figured he was just a kind of out of touch rich guy with maybe some value but I didn't think he was like good or bad...but now everything I hear makes it hard not to think he is just awful all around.

Edison thought nothing to electrocute an animal to prove his theory was better. He even paid local kids to kidnap pets for the process.

Sometimes I wonder if Musk is Eddison reincarnated.

His personality is boring and he just comes across as arrogant and not even in a funny way. Plus, Tesla cars suck and Fords are way better. At least in my opinion.
