The first film about the Titanic was called Saved from the Titanic and was released FOUR WEEKS after it sank.

The lead actress and co-writer Dorothy Gibson was a Titanic survivor. She was one of the women in the first lifeboat to be launched. Perhaps she used the time she had waiting for Carpathia to start her screenplay?

All copies of the film were destroyed in a fire two years later. There's probably no one alive who ever saw it.

Probably an accident.

The nitrate film used for old movies contains nitrocellulose, aka guncotton. Nitrate film can spontaneously catch fire. Fires in movie storage facilities and theatres used to be incredibly common and once they start they can't even be doused with water.

Eventually they switched to acetate based films which are significantly safer, they're only as flammable as paper instead of being prone to auto-ignition.

Nurses aren’t allowed to know what’s wrong with their patients because of confidentiality (?!)

I learnt Janis Ian didn't sing, "Can you believe I was going to fearless fat day".
Which frankly, didn't make much sense.]

A squonk is a mythical creature of American folklore that supposedly lives in the hemlock forests of of the state of Pennsylvania. It's described as having ill-fitting skin covered in warts and moles, and is always unhappy due to its ugliness. It even leaves a trail of tears everywhere it goes, and if it gets cornered with no way of escaping, or when it gets surprised or frightened, it may dissolve itself with its own tears.

To be honest, I learned that from playing my Oregon Trail game on Nintendo Switch. :)
