What kind of bubble gum do you chew?

How much gum do you chew?

What do you like or hate about bubble gum?

I don't like bubble gum and think it's gross to chew on something that never disappears. I used to try it years ago. Rather give me Imperial Mints any day.

I tried gum a little as a kid but I never got into it. I also never learned how to blow a bubble which seems to be a major reason people chew gum. I'd much rather suck on mint candy if I want to have something in my mouth for a bit.

I chewed bubble gum as a kid. My older sisters taught me how to blow bubbles.

I think it's very messy though. More than once I've stepped in it or put my fingers in it under a desk or chair at school.

In Singapore gum is banned and you get a fine if you have it.

I loved bubble gum as a kid and was pretty stoked when I learned to blow bubbles with it. I liked Hubba Bubba and Bubblicious the most because they didn't stick to your face and came in a lot of flavors.

When I was a teen and a young adult I chewed gum a lot because I found it helped my bad anxiety. Now I mainly just chew it to freshen my breath.

During the covid pandemic I switched from chewing gum to mints so I wouldn't have to take my mask off to spit out the gum. After I started chewing gum again but I find mints are more hygienic.

When I was little I really liked Certs mints and still remember that slogan "It's a candy mint, no it's a breath mint, it's two, two, two mints in one!". But I don't think they make them anymore.

No actual bubble gum here, wouldn't want to annoy people with the popping noise it makes when you blow bubbles with it (I wouldn't thank anybody for doing that near me, might be OK once or twice but I think it'd get on my nerves fairly quickly, and I'd probably not want to be around them). And I don't particularly want to blow bubbles.

But I do chew unflavoured nicotine gum because it keeps me off tobacco. Used to vape but it got too much of a hassle and an expense replacing the heating coils and sourcing unflavoured e-liquid with a high enough concentration of nicotine. Don't know what I'd do without the gum. As you've guessed, I don't like or trust the flavourings.

I'd prefer natural gum to the synthetic polymer stuff they use, and I don't trust the additives and I resent the high price. I'm sure it could be done a lot cheaper and safer. I use a trick to halve the price - they sell 2mg and 4mg strength at the same price per piece, I don't need the higher strength but I get that one anyway, and bite them in half. I don't know why anybody ever buys the 2mg strength. It's not as if it's cheap.

I'm interested in gradually weaning myself onto nicotine-free gum, but can't find anything that doesn't have off-putting additives, except Glee Gum - supposed to be natural but it contains xylitol which makes you fart like mad. There should be a warning on the box. But really, there's got to be something natural without side effects that they could put into gum to sweeten it. Stevia maybe? I keep thinking about making my own gum but haven't got round to it yet.

Chewing is a major stim for me.

"Chew on something that never disappears" -- this would apply to chewlery or gnawable pendants to stim with. I don't know how any HFA can use these, as it would be so gross to have something, that had been in my mouth, resting on my bare neck or clothes. It's like a baby removing a pacifier and seeing strings of saliva on it. I realize some autistics chew on items for regulation, but I just had to express my thoughts on this.

For a while as a kid I chewed Bazooka bubblegum. Not very often, but here and there. I'd blow bubbles. Currently, I can't believe I ever did that.

There was a time that Bubble Yum was very popular. All the time in public I'd smell grape Bubble Yum on peoples' breath, and I found it yucky. Didn't these clowns realize others nearby could smell it? I got so fed up with this. Thank goodness that damn Bubble Yum grape was only a fad. I haven't smelled this odor for many years now.

I don't chew gum. And I can only recall chewing any gum a very few times.

I chew crispy things that doesn't stick with flavors that I like. I prefer something that melts or dissolves or can be broken into pieces.

I think something about exhaling slowly in order to blow a gum bubble might have a calming effect, along with the chewing and the sugary taste. As a kid I would have given Violet Beauregard a run for her money. But at least I never stuck chewed gum to elevator buttons. And I didn't chew gum in school since it was strictly forbidden.

Haven't chewed gum in maybe 15-20 years...bubble or otherwise. Not that I got to hate it, just stopped for whatever reason

When I was little someone once told me if I swallowed my gum it would stick to my heart and I'd die. Which is physically impossible and even dumber than the myth that it'll stay in your stomach for 7 years or so.

Gum is mostly just some form of latex that used to come from trees but I think most gum nowadays is made from some synthetic stuff. It can't be digested but it normally just passes harmlessly through the system. But I once read a story by someone who was told the 7 year myth when she was young, and she was also told that if she swallowed more gum it would stick to the gum already in her stomach until she'd have a big, sticky ball down there. At the time she knew a lady who was pregnant but she thought she had swallowed a lot of chewing gum which was why her belly was big. She was confused by the way other people were being nice and friendly to the lady, she'd was sure they would all be scolding her for swallowing her gum. And then the lady had her baby and looked smaller afterwards, which left the author a bit relived, although I don't knew if she learned the truth back then or not. :)

I love gum (bubble or otherwise), but these days, in the US, it is increasingly difficult to find brands that don't have artificial sweeteners in them (and aren't super expensive).
Right now I have a partial bag of Dubble Bubble, but it's never really been my favorite...and it's not quite as soft as I like.
