When I was six I wanted to be a teacher. I've always wanted to be a writer. Then when I was about 13 I wanted to be an Egyptologist.

I wonder how many people actually BECOME what they wanted to be as children...

When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be rich, but didn't know what job I would have to get that way. When I got a little older I wanted to be a Viking, but that didnt turn out so well as there are so few positions available. Now what I would really like to be is a children's gynochologist, but I doubt thats gonna happen either.
So I'm leaning back towards Viking.

Well get yourself over to Thailand...erm no not really! I think you have confused gynecology with perhaps podiatry?

Apparently I told the careers teacher I wanted to live in a tree and talk to animals.
He said that was silly what else might I do?
Live in a cave and talk to animals says I.
That was the last careers advice I ever had.

I actually wanted to be an archaeologist or entomologist but nobody really supported me to do this so I went into the care professions and am now training to be a psychotherapist (the nice sort). I have very little interest in careers or work for that matter but just sort of get on with it.

First, I wanted to be a scientist, then I wanted to do something related to the English language. I realized the second ambition, as all of my jobs have involved books and writing in some way: college teaching, proofreading, editing papers, library work and my own writing.
