It's funny.... I like the taste of coffee, but seriously mainly drink the stuff to keep me alert throughout the day. I enjoy the caffeine-buzz.... a lot. Sure, coffee is alright if you add a hell of a lot of sugar to it and some cream, but have you ever drank it with nothing added? It's not all that special.... Tea is a far superior drink to coffee in my opinion.

So.... is there anyone else here who mainly drinks the stuff for the caffeine buzz?

Nope, I don't get any buzz from coffeine. It simply doesn't have that effect on me. Nor do I drink or like coffee.

I have heard that cocoa is supposed to make one alert, but it makes me sleepy. My NT mother is the same way, so it can't just be related to being on the spectrum.

I'm immune to caffeine.

Well, that is part of the reason why I'm drinking coffee right now... to become more alert and awake. I don't get that much enjoyment out of the alertness itself (it upsets my stomach a bit) but I find it useful. And I guess I've acquired a taste for coffee, though not in its purest form.

I drink soda for the same effect.

I drink about 12 cups of coffe a day. Sometimes toss in a Mountain Dew or RockStar. I buy fresh roasted coffee in bulk. I learned to enjoy the taste of coffee, but when you think about it.. it really does not taste that great. I spend between $50-$100 a month to stay constantly caffeinated.

I live in a State where there is an espresso stand every 3 blocks. Starbucks is for people who don't know what a good cup of coffee is (and are willing to pay way too much for it).

word.

I love freshly brewed, strong coffe. I always keep mine in the fridge to preserve the taste. I do drink instant at work though, for the caffeine-buzz mostly. same with red bulls, I need them really cold to kill the dodgy taste.

I started drinking it to feel like a rebel, because my parents always told me it was for adults. Now I drink it for the flavor (black with sugar, properly cooled), and I try to stick with decaf when I can.

I think they both taste pretty bitter without sugar :x

Caffeine doesn't work on me. I like the warmth of tea and that's why I drink it (no buzz) and coffee doesn't do it for me taste-wise and it too doesn't give me a buzz at all.
Chocolate doesn't work either, so I really think I'm immune to caffeine.

Chocolate doesn't actually contain caffeine. At least, not naturally.

One of my obsessions is coffee, I love the stuff, particularly as a milk based espresso style a la latte or Macchiato. Got a machine installed in the kitchen, and I go a long way for the right beans, and developing my espresso technique to get a good coffee. I've become the family Barista :) A few friends will find an excuse to come over for a coffee.

As for the buzz, I used to be in it for that, making uber strong filter coffee. Now I'm pretty much immune to caffeine. But, since being introduced to how good coffee can taste when done right, I've gone in a different direction. Espresso based coffee actually has a lower caffein content as you generally make the coffee using the first part of the extraction, leaving the greater amount of caffeine which comes out later. You also remove much of the bitterness this way too. The beans I use gives me a lovely nutty chocolate flavour to the coffee when done right.

Hell, I wish I were home to have one now. But, I'm 10000k's from where I would rather be :(

Also because it uses a darker roast bean, if I'm not mistaken (sorry, I watch too much Good Eats)

Possibly, but I tend to use a moderate roast for my coffee, I find the darker roasts too rough for me.

Coffee actually puts me to sleep, unless I drink like a whole pot. Sometimes on the weekends, my husband will make a pot of coffee, and I'll have a cup. Within a half-hour, I'm either asleep or fighting hard not to fall asleep.

If I'm having a hard time focusing, and I'm feeling generally ADD-ish, it's good for me to drink a whole pot of coffee. It doesn't give me a buzz, though. Just makes me feel like I can get things accomplished, like a normal person, and get indigestion as well.

No, I don't drink coffee. However, the caffiene in coca-cola sometimes makes me energetic.
